Reynosa on the Rio Grande
\nBordering the US
\nA very violent city
\nWhere drugs gangs
\nMore or less
\nRule the roost
\nThe murdering goes on
\nUnabated there
\nMexico kills many a man
\nSo lots of real despair<\/p>\n
At the Plaza de Toros de Reynosa
\nOne matador took flight
\nWas gored and tossed into the air
\nIt was, never a fight
\nThe tortured Bull was angry
\nThat was very clear
\nTossed just like a rag doll
\nInstilling in him fear<\/p>\n
An eventuality
\nAn adventure one might say
\nThis tradition to have permission
\nTo even earn some pay
\nFor catastrophic cruelty
\nOn a healthy soul
\nAttracting people
\nAs entertainment
\nAll out of control<\/p>\n
Straw hats children screaming
\nCouples kissing, they
\nWitness animals cruelly treated
\nEvery single day
\nEvery time a bull appears
\nA cuadrilla does their stuff
\nBreaks down this glorious being
\nWho must have had enough<\/p>\n
Hurt thrust on his body
\nTo enable such a rage
\nThis man was not just gored once
\nHe just flew off his stage
\nAnd as he crumpled to the dust
\nHe was, picked up again
\nAnd thrust once more into the air
\nWith all the gall and pain<\/p>\n
And the bull charged around
\nThe ring with fury
\nWith all his bovine power
\nIn what was his ascendancy
\nHis vigour it did tower
\nThe helplessness of the murderer
\nDressed in his silk attire
\nWere no match for an angry Bull
\nWhose potency was dire<\/p>\n
Whose strength was clearly awesome
\nThe muscularity
\nThe matadors acrobatics
\nFor all of us to see
\nFlying in a zigzag
\nBruised beyond one’s fear
\nBounced against the side boards
\nThis injury would be dear<\/p>\n
The audience a general one
\nOut on sunny day
\nA picnic as they torture
\nA lovely family way
\nAs men begin their evil
\nTo drag the honour through
\nTo use excessive violence
\nAnd do what they must do<\/p>\n
Humanity in turmoil
\nThe severity of style
\nThe vehemence and destruction
\nIt was off the dial
\nAggression it was everywhere
\nThey goaded and they tried
\nThey inflamed and they enraged that bull
\nWhich of course they denied<\/p>\n
The culture of the moment
\nThe city where blood’s seen
\nMurders happen often
\nIf you have ever been
\nAlong the Southern Rio Grande
\nIts a pretty lively place
\nI wouldn’t describe it as safe there
\nNot a place to base<\/p>\n
Any kind of judgement
\nAbout the people there
\nLike Spain they feel bull Fighting
\nIs something all should share
\nThere is no moderation
\nWithin the ring we see
\nOne after another bulls
\nMurdered violently<\/p>\n
And this bloke got his karma
\nIt struck him down and fast
\nHathor clearly got into the bull
\nAnd the die was cast
\nHis agony was awful
\nHis side was really bad
\nThe bull would have been murdered
