{"id":26998,"date":"2016-03-23T18:52:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-23T18:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=26998"},"modified":"2016-03-23T19:03:12","modified_gmt":"2016-03-23T19:03:12","slug":"the-jarawas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2016\/03\/the-jarawas\/","title":{"rendered":"The Jarawa&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Integration is arrogance<br \/>\nIt makes no sense at all<br \/>\nThe indigenous people are independent<br \/>\nEternity on call<br \/>\nA massive ancestral background<br \/>\nThough their habitat is being<br \/>\nCarved up by the poaching clans<br \/>\nWho really are all seeing<\/p>\n<p>Tourists have a road through their reserve<br \/>\nAnd people come<br \/>\nto take Way their turtles<br \/>\nAnd their wild pigs stealing some<br \/>\nOut of the mouths of the Jarawa&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>And supplying them with booze<br \/>\nAnd with marijuana<br \/>\nWhich is bloody awful news<\/p>\n<p>They are innocent jungle people<br \/>\nNot streetwise in that way<br \/>\nThey are a simple natural people<br \/>\nGatherers lets say<br \/>\nThe poaching class are evil<br \/>\nDarkly souls who do<br \/>\nPollute and bring corruption<br \/>\nAnd sex into their lives<br \/>\nDiseases too can run rife<br \/>\nAnd its really who survives<br \/>\nThis onslaught from the outside world<br \/>\nThis disconnectedness<br \/>\nTheir separateness is essential<br \/>\nIts brings its share of stress<\/p>\n<p>An unraveling of culture<br \/>\nAnd the  knowledge of day to day<br \/>\nHunting with their meagre tools<br \/>\nAnd the wood from far away<br \/>\nAnd the honey from the lofty trees<br \/>\nAnd the special leaves they chew<br \/>\nAs a repellant against the stinging<br \/>\nWho do what they must do<\/p>\n<p>Save the hive and the colony<br \/>\nFrom the ravages of man<br \/>\nThey have this passed down knowledge<br \/>\nWithin their worldly plan<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t talk of them as primitives<br \/>\nIn the  jungle they all know<br \/>\n159 plants each one intimate<br \/>\nAnd on show<br \/>\nAnd animals  And insects<br \/>\nAnd tubers they can eat<br \/>\nThey are self sufficient<br \/>\nEating their wild meat<\/p>\n<p>Outsiders come of course they do<br \/>\nIts paradise is real<br \/>\nBut the paradise is hard to find<br \/>\nOnly  the Jarawa&#8217;s feel<br \/>\nThe value of their surroundings<br \/>\nThey harness the energy<br \/>\nThey have perfect commitment<br \/>\nIn their own way they are free<\/p>\n<p>To bring them into the Indian scene<br \/>\nIs arrogance gone wrong<br \/>\nIts a totally ignorant point of view<br \/>\nWhich just does not belong<br \/>\nIt will scatter them every which way<br \/>\nDriving them insane<br \/>\nThey are happy with their paradise<br \/>\nFor them its not in vain<\/p>\n<p>They understand completeness<br \/>\nAn ensemble of the whole<br \/>\nTheir university is life<br \/>\nThey really do have soul<br \/>\nTheir collective panorama<br \/>\nIs a simple warm embrace<br \/>\nWith the natural world around them<br \/>\nAnd the pictures on their face<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the foreign visitor<br \/>\nThey realise the worth<br \/>\nThey do not take what they don&#8217;t want<br \/>\nFrom great Mother earth<br \/>\nThey do not hoard they share the gifts<br \/>\nThe earth gives them each day<br \/>\nThey understand their place on earth<br \/>\nFor really thats the way<\/p>\n<p>The outside world must stop this<br \/>\nLeave them well alone<br \/>\nProtect them their survival<br \/>\nHad well and truly shown<br \/>\nFrom their initial beginning<br \/>\nThey have the where for all<br \/>\nThey can manage the forests<br \/>\nThey are permanently on call<\/p>\n<p>Survival is their vitality<br \/>\nIntegration will<br \/>\nKill the ancientness that they all have<br \/>\nAnd can have still<br \/>\nIt makes no  sense to do this<br \/>\nThey must remain in time<br \/>\nWhere they are in their scheme of things<br \/>\nFor they are on an upward climb<br \/>\nTo paradise and beyond my friends<br \/>\nWhere outsiders cannot go<br \/>\nNot in a month of sundays<br \/>\nWill any of us know<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Integration is arrogance It makes no sense at all The indigenous people are independent Eternity on call A massive ancestral background Though their habitat is being Carved up by the poaching clans Who really are all seeing Tourists have a &hellip;
