\nas we know

\nwall to wall TV
\nevery sport was shown
\nTechnology
\nbrought it to be
\ncompetitors were thrown
\ntogether
\nall their training
\ntheir spirit and
\ntheir soul
\nready to now be
\nreleased
\npitted, the control
\nthe effort
\nwas astounding
\neach one rose to the test
\neach one climbed their
\nEverest
\neach one gave of their best
\nand many became winners
\nthe iconic medal set
\na fulfilment of the wisdom
\nand the planning
\nand the debt
\npaid by them
\nto the spirit
\nto the winning
\nto the way
\nand now we reach the final
\nactually,the last day
\nSunday
\nYes the end is near
\nthe excitment
\nof it all
\ndemands that we
\nthe crowds
\nthat shouted
\nlong and hard
\nfrom what was
\nadversity
\nthat spent
\ntheir hard earned
\nsalaries
\nor that camped out in the park
\nand watched it all on
\ngiant screens
\nand screamed till after dark
\nthis fillip
\nthis hysteria
\nfor those, the chosen few
\nthe medal winners
\nwho inspired
\nas champions
\ntend to do
\neach other
\nand youths watching
\nfired up
\nby it all
\nchallenged by the
\nrecords
\nthat clearly had to fall
\nthe stars emerged
\nregardless
\nthey prepared to be
\nthe best
\ntheir test was over
\nthey enter History
\ntonight another
\nspectacle
\nto close the great event
\nan outpouring
\nof many
\nand of money
\nthats been spent
\nfor now it must be paid for
\nin our taxes and our rates
\nas to the lasting legacy
