The benevolence of being
\nAnd kind heartedness and sympathy
\nThe unselfishness of caring
\nOf offering liberality
\nOld Elephants need friendship
\nThe bull hook they know well
\nAnywhere there are humans
\nThey have felt that hell<\/p>\n
Being merciful and tolerant
\nOf the vagaries of man
\nTo his malevolence
\nAnd his worst intentions
\nAnd his ugly plan<\/p>\n
Offering some fellowship
\nThe intimacy of light
\nThe affection of heredity
\nEmotion in plain sight
\nThe intense desire of sharing
\nAn interlude or two
\nInvolving understanding
\nIts what old elephants do<\/p>\n
To get a soul impression
\nA sharing so to say
\nAnd then be met with bull hooks
\nAnd an artlessness
\nAway
\nFrom what was inspiration
\nPitched tantalizingly
\nInto pure unconsciousness
\nUnconcerned how that might be<\/p>\n
The hopeful and the joyful
\nSensations of the thought
\nA blessedness prevailing
\nAn enchantment that was caught
\nA sort of seventh heaven
\nBecomes cold comfort in a way
\nNo friends are coming over
\nIts tension all the way
\nA misery to master
\nFor everybody’s sake<\/p>\n
The beauty and sublimity
\nThe glamour and the grace
\nTo be together in LONGLEAT
\nWhere so many show their face<\/p>\n
Disillusioned and remorseful
\nA joyless state is born
\nThe gravity of all of this
\nClearly has been torn
\nThe tedium of loneliness
\nA bitter pill to take
\nThe culture and the dignity
\nOf comradeship and more
\nAnd finding out the opposite
\nIs more likely to be sure<\/p>\n
The ludicrous proposals
\nOf being there with friends
\nWhat an anticlimax
\nSuch absurdity it sends
\nSuch fear and consternation
\nInto an aching heart
\nA hopeless situation
\nAlmost from the start<\/p>\n
Their indifference really shocks me
\nThey couldn’t care a less
\nThey shrug it off like it is nothing
\nFor me its so much stress
\nThe sympathy of suggestion
\nThe sacrifice of soul
\nThe antipathy of arguing
\nThat we do have a role
\nWe need the affability
\nThe urbanity and grace
\nAnd What is respectability
\nWithin the human race!<\/p>\n
To be let down and made miserable
\nAnd feel like a refugee
\nUnfriended god forsaken
\nUnwanted actually
\nSolitary on one’s own
\nTo stand behind the veil
\nTo cry my tears alone at night
\nAnd join the lonely trail<\/p>\n
Unamiable and sullen
\nUnfriendly and hostile
\nBeing persecuted
\nRuining my style
\nHumanity had opened
\nIts golden gates of care
\nChampioning the true blue gifts
\nThat now were everywhere<\/p>\n
But now the dust has settled
\nThe spot lights have gone dark
\nReality is my future
\nThere will be no Elephant Park
\nJust a relentless loneliness
\nAnd my gratitude for now
\nTo be appreciative of their honour
