\nIn Kerala
\nThe inhumanity is slow and firm
\nKatti Adikkai is a ritual
\nWith a 48 to 72 hours term
\nIts all about the way one treats the elephants
\nThose that enter musthi and beyond
\nIts when they feel the urge to mate
\nThough chained up trying to relate
\nTo inner depths frustrated by
\nThe shackles imposed on them
\nThey become aggressive as testosterone
\nFloods through them
\nThrough their flesh and bone
\nAnd so they are left without water or feed
\nTo weaken them which it does indeed
\nSubmissive not really frustrated so
\nAnd the chains are tightened with no where to go<\/p>\n
The worst intentions of man un kind
\nWho is I can say unduly blind
\nTo the elephants and the way they are
\nWhen the final ritual appears to scar
\n7to 8 drunken men armed with bull hooks
\nAnd they know when
\nBeat the animal mercilessly
\nUntil its spirit is broken it be
\nLost to the world less it forget
\nWho is the master it must be set
\nBeaten and scarred and painfully so
\nSo the heart of the beast does really know<\/p>\n
In this case the poor elephant died
\nImagine the agony the people lied
\nThey took its body to another state
\nHoping to get away but fate
\nWas there to see what they had done
\nCriminality in the sun
\nSpitefulness and a malignancy
\nPersecution and severity<\/p>\n
Ill conditioned wilful pain
\nBeating this soul again and again
\nHard hearted and ruthless
\nBlood thirsty sods
\nClearly maligned without their gods
\nThey slaughtered this young bull
\nTheir embittered state
\nFlushed with anger and at a rate
\nAnd they must pay for the murder here
\nThey let off steam by creating fear<\/p>\n
No more than savages they became
\nTanked up on toddy that cast a flame
\nOf insanity on these ugly brutes
\nWho roughed up an innocent to its roots
\nWho failed to imagine its darkly pain
\nAs it was beaten again and again
\nThe nausea of this threatens to be
\nA revulsion against true humanity
\nLets remember the elephant cast in pain
\nSent to his maker by those insane
\nIntoxicated by the toddy they drank
