Designed to be short lived

\nObselescence the keyword
\nAbuse underlined<\/p>\n
E waste
\nConsumption is huge
\nIt empowers
\nAnd when it breaks down
\nIt allows<\/p>\n
An exhaustless supply
\nTo become valueless
\nSurplus to need
\nJust uselessness<\/p>\n
And the mountains of debris
\nAre now everywhere
\nThe dross and the castoffs
\nCreate the despair<\/p>\n
Wasted resources
\nA terrible crime
\nBut thats how we do things
\nAnd the figures now climb<\/p>\n
And what can we do
\nAbout all of this stuff
\nEvery dumpster is full
\nWe just have enough<\/p>\n
There is no way of recycling
\nThe efforts not there
\nThrow it out and replace it
\nAnd be unaware<\/p>\n
So E waste was born
\nAt the drop of a hat
\nMountains of white goods
\nAll that land fat<\/p>\n
Devouring our senses
\nCreating more sin
\nDissipating our energy
\nNow from within<\/p>\n
A way out
\nIs just close our eyes to it all
\nUnder the carpet
\nThats how the fool<\/p>\n
Imagines its sorted
\nCleaned up and gone
\nOut of sight out of mind
\nBut still there upon<\/p>\n
Piles of it everywhere
\nHidden, in plain sight
\nPacked into boxes
\nAnd shipped out at night<\/p>\n

\nWhere others might see
\nSomething worthwhile

Ghana has stepped up
\nHas widened its search
\nAllowing the rich

\nLet them wallow in our waste

Our TV’s our PC’s
\nOur white goods appear
\nMountains of them

Burn them and extract from them
\nThe metals within
\nThe redundant surplus
\nThe copper the tin<\/p>\n
The smoke contains particles
\nPollutive and bad
\nNoxious unhealthy
\nIncredibly sad<\/p>\n
Engorging the light
\nIn a fearful display
\nOf great smoke filled clouds
\nOf anguish each day<\/p>\n
And its charged by the wind
\nAnd it blows everywhere
\nOver food markets
\nSchool paygrounds
\nIt is not fair<\/p>\n
The black evil clouds
\nFull of morbid desire
\nIll health and disease
\nFrom the heat of the fire<\/p>\n
Children are suffering
\nCancer is rife
\nOur fucking e waste
\nIs causing them strife<\/p>\n
Deathbeds are growing
\nNo place to be
\nOur bill of health
\nIs their mortality<\/p>\n
There is money in junk
\nAnd lung cancer too
\nBut if we can just dump it
\nThen thats what we do<\/p>\n
Or go to some charity
\nThinking that we
\nCan recycle it to someone
\nWithout a TV<\/p>\n
Or without a PC then
\nThat seems a way
\nOf ridding ourselves of it

But tragically people
\nCharities too
\nAre all run by people
\nWanting to do<\/p>\n
The same just make money
\nAnd hide stuff away
\nAnd encourage buying
\nYes everyday<\/p>\n
Birthdays and Christmas
\nIts new new new new
\nNot repair whats old
\nThats not what we do<\/p>\n
Built in obselescence
\nWithin our brains
\nWe queue up for new products
\nIts all about gains<\/p>\n
We have the biggest
\nThe newest
\nThe best the 4 g the 5 g
\nAnd of course the rest<\/p>\n
Mega bytes giggabytes
\nFrightening me
\nStorage its all about storage
\nAnd we<\/p>\n
Join in the waste gathering
\nClimate around
\nIncrease the shipments to Ghana
\nTheir ground<\/p>\n
Is littered with our crap
\nAll over their fields
\nBox after box
\nSatanic yields<\/p>\n
Growing and hourly
\nFrom all over the world
\nWhere our shit is coming from
