\nIn complete control
\nThought to be extinct
\nBut clearly now linked
\nWith sightings
\nApparently
\nThis beast could be
\nSecreted away
\nWhere few people see<\/p>\n
Back in the thirties
\nHunters were earning
\nA bounty
\nAnd clearly such killings
\nWere turning this remarkable
\nAnimals into a ghost
\nSaid to be extinct
\nFrom coast to coast<\/p>\n
Imagine those creatures
\nHunted and trapped
\nThey would be trying
\nTherefore to adapt
\nTo nocturnal living
\nAnd staying aloof
\nOf humans for certain
\nWho wanted the proof<\/p>\n
Unsociableness
\nA solitary beast
\nTo stay a recluse
\nWhere they were seen least
\nSequestered away
\nBehind a great veil
\nOf the beaten track
\nNot leaving a trail<\/p>\n
The Tasmanian Tiger
\nWith a dropped lower jaw
\nAllegedly sucking the blood
\nAnd the gore
\nOut of its victims
\nA monster for sure<\/p>\n
An apex predator
\nAnd carnivore
\nWith a very foul smell
\nOne you couldn’t ignore
\nIn the past attacked sheep
\nWith the cleanest of kill
\nTore of the nose
\nAnd the throat parts at will<\/p>\n
In the land of the tree ferns
\nThis beast did frequent
\nIn the tired dried and spent fronds
\nIt went
\nCover and protection
\nIts habitat
\nWhere masses of succulents
\nAlso had lent<\/p>\n
Their shade and their wisdom
\nTo others who came
\nSome of the tallest trees
\nClearly their fame
\nThey pushed through the canopy into the sky
\nIn a fern forest often
\nThese creatures would lie<\/p>\n
Some 350 sightings we hear
\nEye witnesses seeing and being clear
\nThere were no doubts in each if their minds
\nThat the mysterious tigers gave off all the signs
\nPeople could feel their presence around
\nAnd smell rotten carcasses
\nFetid they found
\nWhistles and growling and hisses and more
\nYabbing and grabbing
\nSuch sounds good and raw<\/p>\n
They have DNA
\nThey can sequence they feel
\nAnd perhaps bring them back
\nTry to reveal
\nThe greatest wee Tiger
\nRe create them so we
\nCan once again realise
\nThat they can be<\/p>\n
Its was trapper s and hunters
\nThat stole their limelight
\nFor bounties and sport
\nFor this soul who did bite
