India should by now know that Elephants
\nThe heaviest of land animals are in stress
\nMarching through the streets clad in regalia
\nIt puts their whole demeanour in a mess
\nThere is no give in the roads unlike the natural earth
\nAnd so their feet are very often sore
\nThen the shackles that we make them wear all day
\nIts something really nobody can ignore<\/p>\n
Pageant after pageant makes them angry
\nNo time to rest their aching bodies, they
\nAre made to walk in line wrapped up in silks so fine
\nIn truth fir these wild souls this is not the way
\nThey are positive and full of life created
\nImmortal beings stronger then 10 men
\nGrounded, flesh and muscle of the giants
\nEach step is an effort and so when
\nThe crowds move in much closer and their noise
\nBecomes much louder
\nThe intensity really that is then
\nIt boils over and the amiable fellow
\nMay break and want to go and do his thing
\nBeing curtailed by this derogatory business
\nAll he wants is really to have his fling<\/p>\n
Alongside all these roads the screaming villagers
\nClad in many colours it just makes
\nThe wild soul who would meditate and quietly
\nGet stressed out and bound to make mistakes
\nWe have to understand what is monotony
\nWith pain and stress comes incidences like these
\nNothing there to compensate the elephant
\nThat really wants to drop down on his knees<\/p>\n
The past takes him to phaajan and the agony
\nHis broken spirit from so along ago
\nWhy must he walk the streets and hear cicada
\nThe blistering heat and his aching feet we grow
\nIt transcends just everything that he is doing
\nFor this is causing him to fret and be
\nA lost soul in a world of such confusion
\nIn fact actually like a refugee<\/p>\n
Embroiled in all this stridor all these cornets
\nConfusion and a pandemonium roar
\nElephants need an order to their evening
\nOr they are likely to break and run for sure
\nWe have to realise they are wild and weary
\nThe repercussions of such pageants do
\nPlay havoc with old injuries and undermine
\nTheir patience
\nAnd when they snap what you have to do<\/p>\n
Is run just get away don’t try and stop them
\nFor like the gate you’ll be trampled over you
\nWill look more like a pancake on a searing stove
\nYour bones crushed up and broken and clueless too
\ni think the powers to be and all these trainers
\nHave to come to terms with who they are
\nElephants need respect but never cruelty
