How is it that Temples imagine that they
\nHave the know how and the foresight to manage and play
\nA part in the upkeep and physical need
\nOf an army of Tigers and hopefully feed
\nThe game plan is nurture and show them some care
\nBut what I am seeing is more like despair
\nArrogance bullying and taunting them they
\nAppear most unnatural With the tourists each day<\/p>\n
They do seem lethargic and inactive to me
\nUninspired and indifferent which really is key
\nMonastic life is the opposite end
\nOf the spectrum from where
\nWild Tigers might be having to depend
\nOn humans for everything, it seems to me
\nIt isn’t conducive so how can it be
\ndonations and admissions you would think
\nThat by now
\nWith the space and the numbers
\nThey must work out how
\nBut what it is not is a sanctuary
\nIts more like a circus thats if you ask me<\/p>\n
They are manhandled and frightened
\nBy arrogant men
\nNo doubt they are beaten
\nFor training is when
\nOur eyes are not on them
\nAnd thus I see fear
\nThese are wild beasts and
\nTo me it is clear<\/p>\n
Then we hear in The dead of night
\nTraffickers come
\nHow can that be right
\nWhisking away Tigers thats what we hear
\nAnd replacing with others
\nSo the numbers are clear<\/p>\n
But the registered animals
\nSeemingly some
\nAre trafficked to Laos
\nUnder the thumb
\nOf the black marketeers
\nOf the gangsters and more
\nTigers are big money
\nThat is for sure<\/p>\n
Dead tiger bones
\nAre the creme of the creme
\nTiger tails tiger skins
\nThey are a gem
\nA jewel in the crown
\nOf those sordid enough
\nTo deal in wild animals
\nHowever rough<\/p>\n
And this is a lucrative hobby
\ni see
\nDenials of course from the monks
\nObviously
\nCubs also missing
\nIts inscrutable where
\nI think its absurd
\nThat they have Tigers there<\/p>\n
Its just a fantasy life for them
\nThey
\nGet despondent of course they do
\nWhen tourists pay
\nThey expect to manhandle
\nAnd sit on and play
\nThese are wild Tigers
\nAnd its hopeless to say<\/p>\n
147 of them should ever be there
\nIts a loveless existence
\nIts repugnant to share
\nA sterile habitat
\nAnd all dead food
\nThese are the nobility
\nFed by the crude<\/p>\n
There is no humility
\nNot that I can see
\nJust taunting and sadness
\nAnd discourtesy
\nThe keepers are upstarts
\nPetulant sods
\nInsulting and shameless
\nWith sticks and with rods<\/p>\n
I don’t feel the peace
\nThe affection that should
\nBe gracious and welcoming
\nIts just not good
\nAnd with all the stories
\nIt just makes me feel
\nThat this tiger temple
\nIt just isn’t real<\/p>\n
Its unmindful and stressful
\nNormality no
\nHonourable not really
\nPart of some show
\nWe make our assumptions
\nI am sure many do
\nBut a temple is no place
\nFor Tigers and few
\nCan imagine the husbandry there
\nAnd now the corruption
\nThat appears to poke through<\/p>\n
In a sea of morality
\nSomething feels wrong
\nIts a spurious thought
\nBut it seems all along
\nPeople are saying
\nThings are going on
\nAnimals are missing
\nIs it some con
\nIts not above board
\nThats if you ask me
\nAnd the TIGER boys suffer
