The agony of circus
\nThe bull hook and the whip
\nThe genuineness of animals
\nIts all about their trip
\nFrom wildness
\nThrough to tameness
\nAnd profit out of loss
\nOf excitement for the family
\nAnd of proving who is boss<\/p>\n
Of wanting to see realness
\nAnd actuality
\nPlayed out in the big top
\nFor everyone to see
\nSubjugation tantamount
\nIn the training programmes there
\nWhere the wildest most respected souls
\nAre railroaded to despair<\/p>\n
Behind closed doors
\nAway from eyes
\nThat weep incessantly
\nBreaking down
\nThe instinctive power
\nAnd snuffing out their qi
\nThe backbone and the spirit
\nIs broken overtime
\nThe heart the soul the sap the whole
\nDemeanour once did climb
\nHigh into the heavens
\nBut through starvation and the stick
\nThe temperament was weakened
\nAnd behold another trick<\/p>\n
Was formulated somewhere
\nAs the wounds and beatings grew
\nTranscending natural origin
\nThe Keeper\/trainer crew
\nDelved deep into their lineage
\nCut down to their core
\nIdentity was questioned
\nLike it hadn’t been before
\nThere never was an agreement
\nJust a contract built on fear
\nA simple man and a giant beast
\nSo it should be very clear<\/p>\n
The Circus is a cruel place where
\nSuffering and pain
\nExhausts the jungle spirit
\nIts where tear drops
\nFall like rain
\nThe chains the bolts the hooks of fear
\nThe expletives aimed and made
\nWithdrawing food and water
\nYes upon these souls we have laid<\/p>\n
A burden and a horror
\nAnd their madness sets in fast
\nA quiet life it may compensate
\nAnd behold their die is cast
\nIn a massive bout of brainwashing
\nAnd sedition for each soul
\nWho could crush this violation
\nAnd swallow their bodies whole<\/p>\n
They are parasites
\nAnd humanity may
\nLook back and decide
\nThese circus training blackguards
\nThanks goodness most have died
\nThey were bullies
\nMany were deranged
\nTheir ego’s were on fire
\nThe animals unfortunately
\nTheir lives all became dire<\/p>\n
Such misgivings in their silent cells
\nEach facing a revolution
\nAn eruption that subverts their power
\nWhich isn’t a solution
\nThat took their true blown destiny
\nAnd their inner fire
\nWhich burned into their spirit
\nA great carnage of desire<\/p>\n
behold the circus pageant
\nAnd the overwhelming shriek
\nIts totally unproductive
\nBut some people did seek
\nThe razzmatazz the painted clowns
\nThe hurly burly sounds
\nThe lure of faraway places
\nThat invariably drowns<\/p>\n
Out all the emotion
\nAnd the outbursts causing pain
\nThe turmoil from the sounds around
\nTheir spirit it can drain
\nFor without some moderation
\nThe inference is set
\nThough the animals are crying
\nThe circus still can gain<\/p>\n
The children and their naive parents
\nCome to see it all
\nThough their ignorance is sullied
\nAs the great beast slowly fall
\nIts utter subjugation
\nWhich takes the upper hand
\nAnd takes on evolution
\nWhich most fail to understand<\/p>\n
And animals are beaten
\nMany limp and roll
\nTheir soreness covered up
\nWith silks and satins
\nBut their soul
\nIs bleeding
\nIt is crying
\nIt is screaming
\nCan you hear?<\/p>\n
The drums the trumpets
\nBlazing out
\nThey manufacture cheer
\nThe agony of circus
\nThe bull hooks and the whip
\nStarvation
\nSo they cannot move
\nAnd gradually they flip<\/p>\n
Madness becomes their master
\nThe insanity of sound
\nThey hallucinate
\nObsessed they are
\nWith everything around
\nSome will attack their trainers
\nAnd be shot or whipped away
\nOthers with roll their heads in grief
\nAnd just constantly sway<\/p>\n
Broken lost and beaten
\nLook into those eyes
\nThere is someone at home there
\nIf we dare realise
\nTheir agony our evil
\nWe have cut them down to size
\nWe have murdered them
\nTheir reality
