The Great Apes hold such love
\nwithin their being
\nTheir eyes portray such
\nfeeling
\nthey all seeing
\nThey live high in the canopy
\nand up there they can be
\nAware of all the happenings
\nand are, for they are key<\/p>\n
Logging out the forest
\nloss of habitat
\nloss of one’s surroundings
\nis stressful, where we’re at
\nallows us to put roots down
\nto satisfy our soul
\nto calm ourselves
\nand know ourselves
\nand be in some control<\/p>\n
But the great trucks and the saws
\nand axes rumble
\nslash and burn is thunder to
\nour ears
\nthe acrid smell of smoke
\ncuts through our senses
\nand heightens in us millions
\nof new fears
\nour favourite trees, the fruits
\nwe love to sample
\nlike highways in the sky
\nwhere we peruse
\nall that’s happening in our world
\nand down below where evil’s hurled
\nas one by one our precious trees
\nwe lose<\/p>\n
Each baby that we have and hold and love
\nhas hope,
\ninnocence and a fascination
\nfor every’thing that’s natural in this great
\nbig world of ours
\nwhich honestly we view with gratification
\nour surroundings, and our friends
\nand of course our relatives
\nbut as days pass we accept times
\ndo seem hard.
\nPollution is the revolution coming
\nBush Meat yes we all are now on guard<\/p>\n
the fires that rage, the smoke that chokes
\nthe loss of trees that feed
\nall symbols of the new world where
\nits so hard to succeed
\nwe have some friends, its very true Foundations
\nthat do try
\nthey help us and when we fall foul
\nare ready to reply
\nto help us in their sanctuaries
\nthat is very true
\nbut the best place for Orangutan’s
\nis the canopy, the view
\nis really from the elders
\nwho have lived life to the full
\nthey have suffered at the hands of man
\nthey feel the forests pull<\/p>\n
they know the writing’s on
\nthe wall
\nas the corporates do strive
\nto clear the forests quickly
\nso that soya plants can thrive
\nthe Pharma gangs are on our case
\nthe Palm Oil people too
\nthe American Bio Pirates
\nwho want a piece of you
\nbut hopefully we will overcome
\nwith our human friends in tow
\nthose who love us for what we are
