Pigs have such potential
\nIn the main we underrate
\nJust how intelligent they really are
\nAnd What is on their plate
\nhow we disrespect them
\nRidicule them too
\nFarmers are off handed
\nAnd scurrilous in my view<\/p>\n
Those about to be slaughtered
\nWe write upon their backs
\n“For slaughter” often in blue ink
\nOur insolent attacks
\nAre unwarranted and cavalier
\nThese animals they know
\nThey feel this contempt
\nThats obvious and our insults how
\nthey grow<\/p>\n
We load them onto trucks
\nSent off to slaughter
\nNo water and no food
\nPacked like sardines
\nReally it is an outrage
\nTo be doing this
\nIts sacrilegious
\nAnd they know, what it means<\/p>\n
In many ways they truly are lovely creatures
\nFrom afar
\nDependable and wanting and
\nthoughtful in every way
\nWe are cruel because alas
\nWe take them through a dark morass
\nWe lose sight of this true appeal
\nBringing shame upon ourselves for real<\/p>\n
In the slaughterhouse these days we
\nHang them up for all to see
\nWe fail to stun and what we do
\nIs kill them together that violent view
\nShared with them of course its wrong
\nTheir feelings for each other always strong
\nDying together just shouldn’t be
