Here they are
\nClad in their dress
\nRibbons of purple
\nAnd red no less
\nSome have masks
\nOr blackened faces
\nAnd they put us through
\nThe paces <\/p>\n
The drum beats roll
\nToe tapping stuff
\nThey dance and their sticks
\nThey bang <\/p>\n
enough<\/p>\n
Out in the frosty
\nWinter air
\nIts the morris troop
\nThat spirit share<\/p>\n
A pagan dance of long ago
\nFrom the Moor’s maybe
\nKnow no one does know
\nFor sure a lot of conjecture here
\nBut who cares
\nAs long as they appear<\/p>\n
Sharing their breath
\nAnd their music too
\nThe exhilaration
\nOf all things new
\nThey bring such pleasure
\nFrom olden times
\nWith bells on their arms and legs
\nAnd chimes<\/p>\n
No matter the weather
\nOr what frosty haze
\nTheir emotional spirit
\nIt just plays
\nInto ones heart and out again
\nAcross the fields
\nIn every vein
\nOf the bodies bones and gristle too
\nAnd is so exciting in my view<\/p>\n
Whilst many may sit by the flat screen
\nAnd
\nNod off and really not understand
\nToo much pudding and mince pies
\nOthers wonderful women and guys
\nClad in tradition will bring their thing
\nOut in the frost they will prove the king
\nThe sun is back the light is here
\nOur blood is flowing
\nAnd no cause to fear<\/p>\n
We are alive our hands may be
\nCold its true but our liberty
\nIs ours on this yuletide sojourn to
\nA pageant a ritual or whatever we do
\nDressed up warm stout boots and scarf
\nAnd everyone having a laugh<\/p>\n
Flat screen tellies come and go
\nAs does the frost as does the snow
\nBut the morris people what they do
