Tempered by the icy wind that carves

\nIt gets into our faces
\nAnd we are at a loss
\nThose feelings from ancestors
\nWho grazed these plains before
\nThe relish and the gusto

And really spontaneity
\nThe impressions that we get
\nThat magnetism in our souls
\nWhich is why we are set
\nThe grass and wilder plants here
\nAre remarkably sweet
\nCrammed into this area

Some imagine we are dense
\nAnd lifeless

\nAlthough we feed up here for hours
\nWe also feel the strain
\nWe have a sensitivity

\nThis cold wind it plays havoc

Spirited and mobile
\nBut suffering as well
\nThe spirit we are feeling it

\nWe are intoxicated here
\nAnimated by it all

Its cuts into our marrow
\nIt tears into our soul

\nWe understand our role
