It’s so green, you just feel it
\nYour swallowed up, that buzz!
\nInsects wander everywhere
\nAnd certainly it does
\nRapidly get to you
\nThe steamy sensuous heat
\nThat seems to penetrate your every follicle,
\nYou eat
\nThe nuts and fruits you forage for
\nUpon the litter wet
\nThe slightest movement, leaves you soaked
\nIn a new skin called sweat
\nThe forest, in the canopy
\nOrangutans are there
\nLiving, gobbling down the durian, that’s everywhere
\nThat luscious sweet inviting tang of heaven
\nhere on earth
\nMany a western traveller has given it wide berth
\nCourageous red haired creature’s just pluck the heavy fruit
\nArmed with vicious pointed spines
\nAnd single handedly root
\nout the creamy segments
\nSmacking their soft lips
\nOnce upon a time the Great Ape ruled
\nall flying trips
\nThe green wet mist
\nIs hanging like a curtain from the sky
\nThe money grabbing care for nothing
\nloggers mosey by
\nTaking out the forest
\nAs perilously we sit
\nWondering, remembering the great fire has been lit
\nIt burns across our being
\nIt scorches every hair
\nIt runs across the forest floor
\nAnd bursts into the air
\nAll sorts of species cooked alive
\nAnd we too feel the stress
\nEach tree that hits the forest floor
\nCreates just further mess
\nWe love the folk of OFI who give us love and care
\nProtecting us and helping our young orphans
\nto prepare
\nfor life without their parents
\nIts stressful to be sure
\nA plea for all Orangutan’s
