The Southern Ocean Sanctuary
\nA refuge offering much
\nSafety from the whalers
\nWho are so out of touch
\nA retreat an inner sanctum
\nA place where victims feel
\nConfident and safe there
\nWhere protection is for real<\/p>\n
Where deliverance from evil
\nTo deliverable desire
\nTrue that restoration
\nFrom the harpooners dark fire
\nA beacon in the shady depths
\nAn undertaking signed
\nBy many of the nations
\nAnd of course underlined<\/p>\n
japan Norway and Iceland
\nProtagonists of fear
\nWho despite the world wide whaling ban
\nWon’t listen and won’t hear
\nThey paint their ships with research
\nSo typical a lie
\nAnd go off whaling anyway
\nThey love to hear the cry<\/p>\n
Of the Minke the smallest baleen whale
\nAnd I notice where it ends
\nOn the plate in restaurants
\nThe message that that sends
\nIs certainly not of science
\nBut of culinary acclaim
\nThey are a bunch if liars
\nPlaying their evil game<\/p>\n
Their violence and aversion
\nTo such an amazing soul
\nTheir sullen indignation
\nTheir scientific role
\nNot an ounce of benevolence
\nJust improbity and pain
\nA total lack of conscience
\nAnd unscrupulous disdain<\/p>\n
Retaining their indifference
\nTheir detachment as a rule
\nDenying that the sanctuary
\nIs a sanctuary at all
\nThey intend to hunt there
\nThe Minke Whale to kill
\nThe Sei or Fin are targets too
\nTheir blood they will also spill<\/p>\n
There is absolutely nothing honourable
\nAbout them, they
\nAre hard and almost heartless
\nOn any given day
\nGood for nothing scoundrels
\nThere rascality their own
\nAnd going after sacred souls
\nOn the ocean there alone<\/p>\n
Sea Shepherd has been on their case
\nFor years they battle on
\nThey really are a wicked lot
\nAnd sailing out upon
\nThe southern ocean does it
\nFor most of us who see
\nThe way they treat cetaceans
\nAnd the IWC<\/p>\n
Unregretting and recusant
\nThe numb heads carry on
\nGraceless and unshriven
\nSeemingly they don
\nThe mantle of the monster
\nThe butchers of the sea
\nThe hunter with the harpoon
\nWho hears not the angels plea<\/p>\n
Condemned by all and sundry
\nBut reprimanded no
\nTheir heads should be rolling
\nWithout justice they should go
\nAnd take the consequences
\nAccept them as our right
\nReally get whats coming
\nKillers of the light<\/p>\n
STOP this bloody whaling
\nSTOP it once and for all
\nThey are infernal bullies
\nTheir spawn of ill does fall
\nBefore them in the ocean
\nWhere the grey sky meets the sea
\nThe powers of darkness threaten
\nThose angels swimming free<\/p>\n
