{"id":25012,"date":"2015-12-12T09:51:29","date_gmt":"2015-12-12T09:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=25012"},"modified":"2015-12-12T09:57:37","modified_gmt":"2015-12-12T09:57:37","slug":"come-to-the-temple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2015\/12\/come-to-the-temple\/","title":{"rendered":"Come to the temple"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To be a temple elephant<br \/>\nIs a scourge on all the world<br \/>\nOf elephants who now must listen to<br \/>\nThe  babbling of believers<br \/>\nLook at my sores will you<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t talk to me of religion<br \/>\nWith elephants in chains<br \/>\nHis wounds are being scrubbed<br \/>\nThink hard of his pains<br \/>\nListening to those so called prayers<br \/>\nRinging in his ears<br \/>\nHe will be covered in ritual garb<br \/>\nBut no one sees his tears<\/p>\n<p>This is not a sanctuary<br \/>\nThe brethren are not saints<br \/>\nThis vast and ornate temple<br \/>\nThats the picture that it paints<br \/>\nObservance of the ritual<br \/>\nCreation of a hell<br \/>\nFor elephants who are in fact<br \/>\nNever treated well<\/p>\n<p>Lost in a sea of madness<br \/>\nGanesh even they see<br \/>\nBut its like a representation<br \/>\nOf something that cannot be<br \/>\nA living ganesh  chained up<br \/>\nBeaten till he bleeds<br \/>\nWhat is this new religion<br \/>\nWhen the living soul now leads<\/p>\n<p>The great big celebration<br \/>\nCovered in running sores<br \/>\nInflicted by the mahouts<br \/>\nWith their own personal wars<br \/>\nAgainst this breathing saviour<br \/>\nThe elephant who knows<br \/>\nThe greatness of his majesty<br \/>\nIn the number of great blows<\/p>\n<p>That he receives and daily<br \/>\nThe bull hook and the stick<br \/>\nThe ungodliness he suffers<br \/>\nThey are surely very thick<br \/>\nThey may have found nirvana<br \/>\nOr been told they have but they<br \/>\nAnd handing out the hell on earth<br \/>\nTo the elephants each day<\/p>\n<p>Head rolling castigation<br \/>\nThats the elephants lot<br \/>\nThats his means of telling us<br \/>\nThe treatment thats he has got<br \/>\nThere isn&#8217;t any justice<br \/>\nFor the drubbing he can feel<br \/>\nThe punishment and victimization<br \/>\nFor elephants is real<\/p>\n<p>Self restraint and self control<br \/>\nIs how the elephant lives<br \/>\nTrying to avoid the beatings<br \/>\nThat truly only gives<br \/>\nHim more and more real agony<br \/>\nRestrained he has to be<br \/>\nBe blameless and inoffensive<br \/>\nFrom what is delinquency<\/p>\n<p>The frustration of the human<br \/>\nBuilds up it does inside<br \/>\nAnd we become the scape goat<br \/>\nToo big we are to hide<br \/>\nWe become the whipping boys<br \/>\nOur sores explain all that<br \/>\nAnd elephants in  a temple setting<br \/>\nAll know where they are at<\/p>\n<p>A place of some improbity<br \/>\nWhere often the scoundrels hide<br \/>\nMaking out they are holy<br \/>\nBut from the other side<br \/>\nUnworthy really to be there<br \/>\nNo respect for those<br \/>\nWho truly are admiring<br \/>\nBut tragically can pose<\/p>\n<p>Other simple problems<br \/>\nAs elephants seems to do<br \/>\nIts very true we are very big<br \/>\nAnd there is a duty to<br \/>\nLook after us and feed us<br \/>\nAnd not put us under chain<br \/>\nFor standing in a place too long<br \/>\nCauses us great pain<\/p>\n<p>But we are seldom spiteful<br \/>\nOr vindictive let me say<br \/>\nSometimes we may ran amok<br \/>\nAnd kill and then we pay<br \/>\nBut thats because we have stood so much<br \/>\nAnd we need to take them on<br \/>\nJust need to remind them<br \/>\nThat even when we are gone<br \/>\nGanesh is in the background<br \/>\nTheir Nemesis maybe<br \/>\nAnd he can haunt them<br \/>\nFor their total inflexibility<\/p>\n<p>Tyke was one such heroine<br \/>\nShe took it to her head<br \/>\nShe struck out those ugly ones<br \/>\nAnd left them all for dead<br \/>\nTrod on  them and  scrambled them<br \/>\nLike fried eggs in a pan<br \/>\nShe goes down in history<br \/>\nAs the one who took out man<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To be a temple elephant Is a scourge on all the world Of elephants who now must listen to The babbling of believers Look at my sores will you Don&#8217;t talk to me of religion With elephants in chains His &hellip;
