To be a temple elephant
\nIs a scourge on all the world
\nOf elephants who now must listen to
\nThe babbling of believers
\nLook at my sores will you<\/p>\n
Don’t talk to me of religion
\nWith elephants in chains
\nHis wounds are being scrubbed
\nThink hard of his pains
\nListening to those so called prayers
\nRinging in his ears
\nHe will be covered in ritual garb
\nBut no one sees his tears<\/p>\n
This is not a sanctuary
\nThe brethren are not saints
\nThis vast and ornate temple
\nThats the picture that it paints
\nObservance of the ritual
\nCreation of a hell
\nFor elephants who are in fact
\nNever treated well<\/p>\n
Lost in a sea of madness
\nGanesh even they see
\nBut its like a representation
\nOf something that cannot be
\nA living ganesh chained up
\nBeaten till he bleeds
\nWhat is this new religion
\nWhen the living soul now leads<\/p>\n
The great big celebration
\nCovered in running sores
\nInflicted by the mahouts
\nWith their own personal wars
\nAgainst this breathing saviour
\nThe elephant who knows
\nThe greatness of his majesty
\nIn the number of great blows<\/p>\n
That he receives and daily
\nThe bull hook and the stick
\nThe ungodliness he suffers
\nThey are surely very thick
\nThey may have found nirvana
\nOr been told they have but they
\nAnd handing out the hell on earth
\nTo the elephants each day<\/p>\n
Head rolling castigation
\nThats the elephants lot
\nThats his means of telling us
\nThe treatment thats he has got
\nThere isn’t any justice
\nFor the drubbing he can feel
\nThe punishment and victimization
\nFor elephants is real<\/p>\n
Self restraint and self control
\nIs how the elephant lives
\nTrying to avoid the beatings
\nThat truly only gives
\nHim more and more real agony
\nRestrained he has to be
\nBe blameless and inoffensive
\nFrom what is delinquency<\/p>\n
The frustration of the human
\nBuilds up it does inside
\nAnd we become the scape goat
\nToo big we are to hide
\nWe become the whipping boys
\nOur sores explain all that
\nAnd elephants in a temple setting
\nAll know where they are at<\/p>\n
A place of some improbity
\nWhere often the scoundrels hide
\nMaking out they are holy
\nBut from the other side
\nUnworthy really to be there
\nNo respect for those
\nWho truly are admiring
\nBut tragically can pose<\/p>\n
Other simple problems
\nAs elephants seems to do
\nIts very true we are very big
\nAnd there is a duty to
\nLook after us and feed us
\nAnd not put us under chain
\nFor standing in a place too long
\nCauses us great pain<\/p>\n
But we are seldom spiteful
\nOr vindictive let me say
\nSometimes we may ran amok
\nAnd kill and then we pay
\nBut thats because we have stood so much
\nAnd we need to take them on
\nJust need to remind them
\nThat even when we are gone
\nGanesh is in the background
\nTheir Nemesis maybe
\nAnd he can haunt them
\nFor their total inflexibility<\/p>\n
Tyke was one such heroine
\nShe took it to her head
\nShe struck out those ugly ones
\nAnd left them all for dead
\nTrod on them and scrambled them
\nLike fried eggs in a pan
\nShe goes down in history
