\nIn all of Africa
\nThe biggest in the South and home to
\nA mega pride
\n26 assorted Lions in different stages of learning
\nA lot of guidance and a lot of stress
\nAnd in all their hearts a yearning<\/p>\n
For a coming together for guidance
\nmale energy is required
\nThe two huge males are setting scents
\nIts like being rewired
\nEverybody has a place
\nIts knowing that place, and
\nWorking it in unison
\nRight across the land<\/p>\n
The wild lands have such problems
\nAnd feeding is a prime
\nThe ability to catch them
\nAnd not just waste ones time
\nJudgement is important too
\nThe prey animal can be dangerous
\nIts important to hunt
\nIntelligently<\/p>\n
No where to position yourselves
\nThe chasers and the catchers
\nAnd everyone in their right place
\nThe ambush it attaches
\nA lot of skill and patience
\nAnd frustration can ensue
\nIf some hold back at vital times
\nAs the young males often do<\/p>\n
There will always be some misses
\nIts inevitable in fact
\nSuccess is about a collective group
\nKnowing how to react
\nAnd they have got their act together
\nA bit more I can see
\nAnd chasing down a Zebra
\nOne of them running free
\nLions run fast in short bursts
\nBut are stocky muscled souls
\nSo can be outrun by the prey
\nExhibiting controls
\nChoosing game to hunt
\nAnother pointer well to see
\nThis price tried for a Hippo
\nBut lost it tragically<\/p>\n
One female got an injury
\nSignificant it was
\nA crushing blow into the head
\nReally just because
\nShe was not aware of the awful force
\nThat a Hippo can create
\nAnd found herself in between its jaws
\nAnd that was far from great
\nHaemorrhaging from her brain
\nPunctured in the neck
\nClearly that was quite some blow
\nIt certainly did check<\/p>\n
Her, laid her out for quite a while
\nIn a great deal of pain
\nThe pride were in some disarray
\nThats why she took the strain
\nThe hippo saw his chance and fled
\nStraight into the river
\nSaved although he’d bled
\nA number had been drinking
\nHis nutritional stew
\nBut he was safe and they were hungry
\nAnd pretty clueless too.<\/p>\n
Now the pride had lost a hunter
\nMaimed by the Hippo’s wrath
\nShe would have to rest up
\nFollow the sleepy path
\nAnd the others would have
\nGet together if they were to eat
\nThey tried it with a big giraffe
\nBut again he had them beat
\nHe out ran them and they lost
\nAnother chance to have a meal
\nEven lions must work in tandem
\nWhich is altogether real<\/p>\n
The two big males were sighted
\nThe rulers of the pack
\nThey had done with scent marking
\nAnd joined the gals attack
\nAnd soon they had Zebra
\nDown on and the ground
\nAll 26 were onto her
\nIn raging growls were drowned<\/p>\n
Its a,ways a noisy dinner time
\nThe make cubs really go
\nDelving into the rib cage
\nThe organs for to flow
\nThey are full of testosterone
\nThe females have to wait
\nThat Zebra didn’t last that long
\nShe was gone at such a rate<\/p>\n
All the flesh and skin and bones
\nGround up and inside
\nThe 26 Lions stomachs
\nWhich none of them denied
\nChanges were afoot now
\nThe pride were full up they
\nChasers catchers all knew how
\nTo replicate and pay<\/p>\n
The pride all 26 of them
\nWere pretty full up, they
\nPrepared themselves for resting up
\nAwaiting a new day
\nGreat golden clouds hung gently
\nThe rain fell in silver sweeps
