Our planet over populated
\nSelfish in so many ways
\nMan is most unkind we know
\nFor other earthlings pays
\nMan transcends he wants to gain
\nSpace from other souls
\nHe organises slaves to work
\nAnd then of course controls<\/p>\n
Habitat loss is everywhere
\nFor the indigenous creatures who
\nBegan the world of living beings
\nThat was good and true
\nThose that carved an existence
\nOut of what was such a place
\nGnarled and overgrown and dark
\nAnd going at a pace<\/p>\n
He came in with his upright stance
\nAnd overwhelmed us all
\nTore down all the precious trees
\nTheir oxygen on call
\nRaped the fields of barley grass
\nAnd violated so
\nAll the living creatures
\nAnd all that there did grow<\/p>\n
This was his endeavour
\nAnd he brought it to the fore
\nKilled off many specimens
\nLiving in the raw
\nWildness became lessened
\nBy the glory of the soul
\nMan un kind was born to live
\nForever in control<\/p>\n
There is one place
\nIn Bangladesh
\nthe Sunderban’s its where
\nThe Swamp Tiger stood his ground
\nSwept away despair
\nIt is a muddy forest
\nWhere mangroves wrestle long
\nTheir knotted web of struggle
\nSeems altogether wrong<\/p>\n
To man un kind who fails to
\nComprehend this knotted maze
\nThat holds the earth in its tight grip
\nIf the great sea should raise
\nIts powerful head and want to take
\nVast scoops of fertile soil
\nThis great plant weaves its magic
\nWith extraordinary toil<\/p>\n
An impenetrable forest
\nIs created from its power
\nThe ebb and flow is still on show
\nMore vital by the hour
\nIts where the great Swamp Tiger
\nProceeds to rule and grow
\nWhere he controls the outcome
\nIn what is his ebb and flow<\/p>\n
Debris washing up on tides
\nBrings fertility and food
\nWhere Spotted Deers graze
\nNervously
\nWhere Macaque’s the kiaora
\nStrewed
\nEverywhere such fodder gives the
\nDeers enough to eat
\nAnd warns them of the tigers
\nCharge who will convert them
\nInto meat<\/p>\n
The macaque’s have nice red faces
\nAnd their eyesight its so clear
\nGood hearing up there in the trees
\nAlso in the fear
\nForaging is dangerous
\nIn a dark and knotted place
\nWhere stealth is so important
\nAnd where lives the Tiger race<\/p>\n
This sleek and powerful animal
\nWith golden eyes that peer
\nThrough undergrowth to see so much
\nAnd help promote the fear
\nSo felt by all the creatures
\nSharing his venue
\nFor when he hunts really they know
\nHis march in time is true<\/p>\n
And they are easy picking
\nDespite their in built speed
\nFor he makes hardly any sound
\nAnd thus he does succeed
\nAnd man unkind is unaware
\nFor in this maze of fear
\nHe is also a target
\nFor the Tigers that are here<\/p>\n
Mike heard is one such fearsome soul
\nA cameraman who does
\nWant to film this soulful beast
\nAnd is excited by its buzz
\nEnthralled by its great majesty
\nKnowing how it works
\nThe Sunderban’s one of the fans
\nAnd aware of where he lurks<\/p>\n
His camouflage is amazing
\nHis swimming ability
\nHis prowess it is crazy
\nHis invisibility
\nBrought about by solace
\nBy comfort for to know
\nThat anything he wants in life
\nIs bountiful and will grow<\/p>\n
The forest here is laden
\nWith remoteness all the while
\nA labyrinth of magic
\nHard to reconcile
\nHides are built for Mike to be
\nFestooned in glory and
\nBe able to record them
\nWithin their precious land<\/p>\n
They are warriors from heaven
\nThey are carriers of light
\nBlake gave them identity
\nIn prose and he was right
\n9 feet head to tail are they
\nAnd able to swim and leap
\nImmensely powerful with amazing sight
\nAnd that is why they reap<\/p>\n
Havoc in this vast great forest
\nThis constantly changing place
\nArmed just with a starting pistol
\nThis brave man did face
\n5 tigers as it happened
\nWho all knew he was there
\nTheir sense of smell is top notch
\nGrowling for to scare<\/p>\n
Feeling rather vulnerable
\nBut anxious to remain
\nRecording this great life force
\nWith so much now to gain
\nThe film was of their majesty
\nTwo tigresses one male
\nAnd six of their dear off spring
\nNobody could fail<\/p>\n
To notice Mike’s silent testimony
\nTo patience and to hope
\nThe panting of those animals
\nFor that is how they cope
\nIn temperature that rises
\nThat smothers and that fights
\nAnd tests resolve a plenty
\nFor the creatures bearing lights<\/p>\n
Around them many birds do come
\nTo brighten up this scene
\nIridescent plumage lively blues
\nAnd green
\nAll the colours of the rainbow
\nAdapted to this place
\nAnd they all get in the picture
\nAnd whip up their natural grace<\/p>\n
The empire of the Tiger
\nWho may take much in his stride
\nWho has learned to live with others
\nOf his species
\nSide by side
\nPrey animals are numerous
\nAnd his sights set clear
\nThis area of Bangladesh
\nSpreads beauty
\nAnd much fear<\/p>\n
Despite the vast entanglement
\nPoachers sometimes do
\nCome to hunt the Tiger
\nOr the loggers not a few
\nBandits pressing buttons
\nScaring folk away
\nBut up against a creature
\nThat can generate dismay<\/p>\n
Monitor lizards surface
\nTheir prehistoric gaze
\n9 feet long and very strong
\nRazor jaws their ways
\nSedentary but can they run
\nMan unkind must be
\nWary of the animals
\nThe ones he fails to see<\/p>\n
This area holds such danger
\nFrom the marauding bandits who
\nFrom the loggers and their corporate masters
\nWho know what to do
\nWith weaponry and machinery and
\nThe ultimate dark power
\nObliterate this paradise
\nFrom their arrogant tower<\/p>\n
But till now the vast tracts
\nHave held up and abundantly we see
\nThe Tigers in their habitat
\nThanks to Mike
\nAnd the BBC<\/p>\n
