Kiribati a mass of islands
\nIn the Pacific Ocean where
\nClimate change and carbon
\nIs causing such despair
\nThe king tides are now coming fast
\nThe land risk is so high
\nLow lying land is being swallowed up
\nAnd this is why<\/p>\n
The place has got to worry
\nPerhaps more so than we
\nWho live away from oceans
\nWho live miles from the sea
\nBut all of us must concern ourselves
\nTo a general average claim
\nWhere loss is shared by all of us
\nAnd no one takes the blame<\/p>\n
Imagine this island Paradise
\nWhere the sea now meets the sky
\nThe people are losing land each day
\nThe ocean is hungry and why
\nThe great big industrial nations
\nThe loss of forests where
\nThe burning and the atmosphere
\nAre creating such despair<\/p>\n
Short term profit long term loss
\nThis is what we see
\nThe power is in the corporates hands
\nThe indigenous are made to be
\nThey are many of them existing
\nAll around this world
\nBut their future in these atolls
\nTragically is hurled<\/p>\n
Skywards whats the future
\nWhere can these souls go
\nTo Fiji to New Zealand
\nTo Australia they know
\nThey don’t see themselves
\nAs refugees
\nThe moral changes here
\nWhat is right and what is wrong
\nTo me it all seems clear<\/p>\n
Humanity is failing
\nSome are dirty sods
\nThey ruin bloody everything
\nAnd then pray to their gods
\nThey have so many churches
\nBut their hearts are already dead
\nThey care nothing for the victims
\nThere it has to be said<\/p>\n
All this industrial pollution
\nIts bloody everywhere
\nSlash and burning causing methane
\nBlackening the air
\nSomeone else is suffering
\nIts a general average claim
\nBut they are facing all the risk
\nAnd getting all the blame<\/p>\n
Kiribati and the Marshall Islands
\nAnd other low lying lands
\nThey are in the front line
\nTrying to make plans
\nFor the future of their children
\nWhere will they have to go
\nMigration with dignity
\nA kind of natural flow<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the waters are rising
\nThe pollution is coming too
\nThe western shit is being deposited
\nOn their beaches who
\nIs responsible for this carnage
\nThe corporates exclaim
\nThe indigenous need helping
\nBut are seen by some as game<\/p>\n
To be just well discounted
\nLet the ocean come
\nThey are just a problem
\nPart of why the dumb
\nDown are also problems
\nHumanity becomes
\nA violence not a peaceful mass
\nWho communicate with drums<\/p>\n
No they are flinging bombs about
\nAnd radiation too
\nKilling innocent children
\nThe world is mad my view
\nThe corporate solution
\nIs just to do away
\nWith all these bloody people
\nSo they can save their day<\/p>\n
In their underground bunkers
\nThe politicians will
\nFeel the ocean coming fast
\nFor Nature can instil
\nSo much force and danger
\nInto even their sick hearts
\nThis beautiful planet
\nThe indigenous gave us
\nWe rule in fits and starts<\/p>\n
We allow the evil empires
\nTo ruin all we see
\nWe allow the weak to conquer us
\nWhen before we were so free
\nWe are slaves to their emotion
\nAnd the ocean is rising fast
\nWe must help the front line nations
\nOr our future die is cast<\/p>\n
now it is Kiribati
\nSoon it will be London Town
\nEveryone is facing risk
\nAnd one day all may drown
\nWe have to open up the eyes we were given
\nLong ago
\nWe have to love our neighbours
\nOr perish in the flow<\/p>\n
We all are fucking guilty
\nIn many ways we can
\nTurn ourselves into angels
\nFlush the devils down the pan
\nKick out these myriad tyrants
\nTell them where to go
