Broken families broken lives
\nHabitat loss and who survives
\nThe loss of wildness in their heart
\nAnd Man un kind’s lies from the start
\n“To love an elephant and understand
\nIts nature and culture”
\nFor Its fire to be
\nAlways burning then its needs
\nEveryone would want to see<\/p>\n
Compromise at their level they
\nMust learn respect
\nAnd with their lives pay
\nWe are the anathema it is true
\nWe Create their problems
\nYes we do
\nAnd provide their strife
\nWe are good at that
\nAs we remove their habitat<\/p>\n
And we carry on
\nAiding and abetting
\nWe
\nMake our films
\nAnd let you see
\nMany babies are lost and alone
\nWe have killed their parents
\nWe hear a groan<\/p>\n
We steal their wildness
\nAnd say we care
\nWe train them to be more aware
\nTo live and to earn a place
\nTo thrive
\nTo work their lives
\nAnd to survive<\/p>\n
We create adoptions
\nWe teach them art
\nWe tell you its elephants
\nAnd they have the heart
\nTo learn to be relevant with their soul
\nWith a paint brush to be in control
\nIts a medium that brings money in
\nAnd is sold therefore as a win win win<\/p>\n
It gives good work to mahouts who
\nBecome better people for what they do
\nAs to better elephants
\nI am not sure
\nFor me to be out on the great
\nWild floor
\nWhere they were put all good and free
\nOr perhaps in a born free sanctuary<\/p>\n
Being worked and broken in
\nTied and chained it all wears thin
\nWhen reminded of phajan
\nAnd all it entails
\nThen in my heart
\nOf course It fails<\/p>\n
Being worked till they drop
\nUnpaid artists
\nAnd out and out cop
\nSold as a restful and mental joy
\nWith tiny brushes how they employ
\nRevolving emotional awareness
\nAnd discovery
\nAnd of course art stock
\nThat was painted free<\/p>\n
It attracts the gullible tourists
\nAll so keen to pay
\nTo watch them at their easels
\nTheir Van gogh’s everyday
\nGreat big flapping Ears and all
\nAnd always of course yea on call<\/p>\n
Developing dexterity
\nThat is what they say to me
\nNothing about the tourists who buy
\nthe pictures
\nFor the reason why
\nThey are made to think that they
\nAre helping the elephants
\nEvery day
\nFrom the real truth
\nIts a commercial world
\nWhere all these victims
\nHave been hurled<\/p>\n
And then they are put to work again
\nLogging the forest
\nOr touristic pain
\nGiving the rides and earning
\nThe dough
\nAnd working all day
\nIn the semi wild show<\/p>\n
Which ever perspective
\nYou look at please see
\nIts a lot of propaganda
\nThat be
\nPresented via the great
\nCorporate way
\nOf helping themselves
\nTo more victims each day<\/p>\n
We create victims
\nThats what we do
\nIf we have a job
\nThat pays its a view
\nWe restrict freedom
\nFor others and we
\nRestrict our own freedom of choice
\nActually<\/p>\n
In the great paradise
\nWe all were born into
\nWe have let the corporate
\nRule and in lieu
\nOf their paper money
\nAnd cajoling sphere
\nWe work and we slave
\nAnd we feel the fear<\/p>\n
Which keeps us all going
\nThe elephants too
\nWe are all victims
\nOf what corporates do
\nWe are their slaves
\nAs the elephants we
\nSo their dirty work
\nFor karma to be<\/p>\n
