Its started, the men
\nwith sticks are here
\nsmelling like they haven’t
\nwashed for a year
\nhair uncombed, face
\nunshaven
\nvagabonds are they
\ngreasy, dirty, dishevelled
\ngoons
\nall here to make our day<\/p>\n
slouching on the sands
\nthe weather cold
\nthe wind does stray
\nthe sky is full
\nof thunder
\nand out across
\nthe bay
\nsea horses froth
\nand tumble
\nand we the Seals of Nam
\nsit here waiting
\nfor the sticks
\nthat convert our brains
\nto jam<\/p>\n
Its been a really awful week
\njust waiting for the Ombudsman
\nto come up with his long report
\non whether its okay
\nFor Namibia to slaughter us
\nto violate us so
\nand steal our skin
\nto bloody win
\nthe battle and then go<\/p>\n
They call this place our sanctuary
\na place of peace and quiet
\nwhere seals can live in harmony
\nand all the world is bright
\nwhat tears, what deceit there is
\nTourists do believe
\nthat what they see is kosher
\nof course where many grieve
\nthey do to see
\nthose faces,those tears
\nthose heart breaks No!
\nthey pay their dollar
\ntake their pictures
\nand then of course just go<\/p>\n
and then when its all
\nquiet the killing
\nspree does grow
\nthe trophy seals
\nwe hear the squeals
\nas the so called hunters
\nthrow
\ncaution to the wind $5000 or so they
\npay to
\nthe so called agent
\nand they shoot a seal a day<\/p>\n
Then the cull for Science
\nand our bodies straight to Hell
\nTo Australia or God knows where
\nIn containers, of despair
\nthousands of us dying
\nthat’s what I’ve heard tell
\nNamibia believes
\nto push extinction
\nfor the money it achieves
\nBut why I ask
\nWe’re dying,
\nBulls and Mums and me
\nits the end of seals it seems
\nand it just shouldn’t be.
\nOn Facebook and on Twitter
\nthe gals and boys do try
\npoems tweets and essays
\nand petitions, oh! I sigh
\nmany many people are trying
\nnow to save
\nthe Seals of Nam
\nand of everywhere
\nalthough of course its grave
\nFor somewhere there’s a market
\nignorant humans seem
\nto pay a bloody fortune
\nfor our skins now it does seem
\nDespite the PETA adverts
\ndespite all some folk do
\nstill these hags go out and buy
\na thick fur coat or two
\nto just hang in some wardrobe
\nwith mothballs that do stink
\nor they keep them in some
\nchilled fur store
