last evening my little Sable
\nPassed over
\nShe had been ill for sometime
\nHer life of clover
\nExtinguished somewhat
\nWhen her best friend Max passed on
\nThey slept together all their lives
\nAnd suddenly he was gone<\/p>\n
I found her sleeping with him
\nDead he was and cold
\nShe was snuggling up to him
\nTogether as good as gold
\nShe never really recovered
\nFrom that I have to say
\nShe wandered around for a month or so
\nBut grew thinner by the day<\/p>\n
And yesterday her suffering
\nWas ended, she did fly
\nTo the rainbow bridge
\nBeyond the forest
\nover the bluest sky
\nAnd I came back from the veterinary
\nDown those winding lanes
\nThe wind was blowing really hard
\nBlood coursing through my veins<\/p>\n
I had become quite tearful
\nFor she had been with me
\nA lot of years she was tiny
\nA bedraggled soul but she
\nWas a fighter she was a battler
\nShe was tenacious through and through
\nShe was my black cat and I loved her
\nI loved her all through<\/p>\n
The last few months i nursed her
\nWashed her bottom she
\nhad grown
\nTired of that seemingly
\nSo it was down to me
\nTo wash her mouth after eating
\nAnd her bottom too
\nAnd comfort her and love her
\nAs anyone would do<\/p>\n
In these few months I got to know
\nHer even more, for she
\nLet me do it and I did it
\nReally so gently
\nA lady cat a mysterious soul
\nA loner in many ways
\nA black cat with deep sunken eyes
\nWorthy of such praise<\/p>\n
She was trying to tell me lots and lots
\nBut I really didn’t know
\nshe was giving me messages
\nBut I wasn’t in the flow
\nI was nursing her and helping her
\nBut couldn’t really see
\nWhat inside was bothering her
\nAnd now she has gone she will be<\/p>\n
Hopefully much more comfortable
\nAnd at rest perhaps she will
\nLeap about as she use to
\nHer little room is still
\nI have spent some time this morning
\nOn clearing and washing her place
\nPutting a bunch of rosemary
\nIn her favourite place<\/p>\n
Last evening i went to my dear friend
\nClaudia who knew
\nShe invited me to come to tea
\nWhich I always love to do
\nAnd whilst we sat and pondered
\nA door opened just behind
\nWith no reason it opened again it did
\nAnd suddenly to find
\nA beautiful butterfly black and red
\nIn November on the wall
\nShe flew around one last look
\nWas it sable’s spirit call<\/p>\n
We caught her and we let her go
\nTo fly into the night
\nBelieving that her spirit
\nHad kept my car in sight
\nThrough those many winding lanes
\nHad followed me and she
\nTook one last look and was off
\nTo the rainbow bridge
\nWhere she may be<\/p>\n
The passing of our little angels
\nShe was 21
\nold as cats go so I hear
\nBut she was so much fun
\nSolemn since her Max had passed
\nBut very close to me
\nWith great long claws
\nThat caused me quite a lot of agony<\/p>\n
Now I have to lay her to rest
\nAnd in the rain
\nI must dig a grave close to sweet Max
\nI feel the life force drain
\nShe is in a blanket
\nAnd soon I will inter
\nStrew her with green rosemary
\nAnd place this poem on her fur<\/p>\n
She used to purr so loudly
\nAnd had a wild wolf cry
\nShe would sit up on the roof
\nAnd howl
\nAnd I never really knew why<\/p>\n
But now she has gone
\nAnd my final act is to bury her and say
\nI always loved you Sable
\nAnd I will never forget you<\/p>\n
