Just because I am massive
\nThe biggest soul around
\nMan un kind displays
\nHis wretched character I have found<\/p>\n
Abuses me and uses me
\nTo log the forest bare
\nTear the life out of the place
\nWhich of course is far from fair<\/p>\n
For his decking and his paper use
\nI am forced to drag great logs
\nThrough all this vile confusion
\nThrough hillocks swamps and bogs<\/p>\n
My Mahout is a bastard of the worst
\nKind I can say
\nHe reckons that he understands
\nMy feelings, but each day<\/p>\n
He hits me with his bull hook
\nAnd hurts me till I bleed
\nIts exhausting in the forest
\nAnd its so hard to succeed<\/p>\n
Dragging logs to the trucking zone
\nPuts so much strain on me
\nMy legs are pretty ropey now
\nMy dream is to be free<\/p>\n
I know i save the forest from man unkind
\nWho will
\nObliterate all areas to have his precious
\nWill<\/p>\n
And using us we minimise
\nthe damage all about
\nOtherwise the forest
\nis destroyed without a doubt<\/p>\n
But India and Thailand have told us
\nThey will not use
\nUs and so we are re wilded
\nbut they have few clues<\/p>\n
Tearing up our habitat
\nthere is no place to go
\nAnd the poachers now are everywhere
\nAs most of you do know<\/p>\n
Ivory is big business
\nChina feels the need
\nTo open up the market
\nso more of us do bleed<\/p>\n
As China opens up its doors
\nand more of them do well
\nSo each of them wants ivory
\nand therefore gives us hell<\/p>\n
Worked to death no habitat
\nto speak of what to do
\nWander through the sterile woods
\nwaiting just for you<\/p>\n
The poacher men who will slaughter us
\nAnd steal our ivory fast
\nUs pachyderms have had our marching orders
\nLife is cast<\/p>\n
Into the darkest shadow
\nEvery 15 minutes, we
\nAre being sought out and now murdered
\nIts not the place to be<\/p>\n
First the mahouts now the poachers
\nAnd despite animal rights
\nAll our days are hellish
\nAnd so are our nights<\/p>\n
Will somebody PLEASE help us
\nHelp us to get through
\nThis maze of man un kind
\nThat seem to follow us and do<\/p>\n
Wicked horrid things to us
\nTheir shamelessness it does
\nOur heads in really just because
\nWe cannot stand the buzz<\/p>\n
The chain saws and the dust clouds
\nThe tearing down of trees
\nLots of other animals die
\nWe are begging you now please<\/p>\n
Stop this awful carnage
\nOur place was once the dream
\nAnd now it is the nightmare
\nMuch worse than it does seem<\/p>\n
Destruction that is normal now
\nDeath comes, to one and all
\nThe oxygen of the planet
\nSeemingly does fall<\/p>\n
Fires rage every which way
\nSo many souls have died
\nThe medicines of the forest
\nFor some reason denied<\/p>\n
No guilt this criminality
\nAnd culpability
\nIs certainly out of control
\nWhat will become of me<\/p>\n
Once we had no enemies
\nWe were free to range the wild
\nNow we are lost forever
\nTrampled and defiled<\/p>\n
What we need is sanctuary
\nPerhaps born free might come
\nMight help us find a heaven
\nSomewhere there must be some<\/p>\n
Sanctuaries a place to rest
\nMake friends and try to see
\nThat elephants are settled
\nAnd an end to ivory<\/p>\n
Poaching wouldn’t that be great
\nBorn free our chosen place
\nTeresa Romano animal activist
\nA women of such grace<\/p>\n
Fighting every corner
\nSo one day may be we
\nCan be kind of looked after
\nIn a BORN free sanctuary<\/p>\n
Because we remember Elsa
\nAnd Virginia and Bill
\nAnd the pedigree is fabulous
\nAnd we know, it is still<\/p>\n
