\nHot and heavy torches
\nFuelled by kerosene
\nBarefoot and barebacked

How they treat their elephants
\nChaining their legs they
\nAre restrained and its dangerous
\nTo expect them to walk all day
\nThe great strain on the back and ligaments
\nIts a price too high to pay
\nAnd with heavy paraphanalia
\nTo be carried everywhere
\nYou can see from looking in their eyes
\nThey are suffering despair
\nThree or four men
\nOn their backs
\nA fate now worse than hell
\nMan is an inhuman sod
\nUnder some awful spell<\/p>\n
The roads are heavy going
\nBut this is what we do
\nAs their skin in scraped
\nSick or not
\nWe are never true
\nThey walk and limp drenched in sweat
\nAnd sometimes blood does drip
\nBut its a duty and they must try
\nOf face a great big whip<\/p>\n
Its their duty they must carry on
\nThe work is set in stone
\nThe cruelty the agony
\nEvery pace they groan
\nThis is how they treat the elephants
