\nThe canvas can it be
\nUsed to create a picture
\nPossibly of thee
\nAnd how might that be possible
\nWith what brush will you use
\nA sable or a mongoose
\nOr a badger lets abuse<\/p>\n
A hog, we seem to feel the need
\nTo slaughter as we go
\nFor any kind of reason
\nTo help improve the flow
\nSchool grade water colour
\nSaw the mongoose flayed alive
\nTrapped in some contraption
\nUnable to survive<\/p>\n
Or simply shot thats how its done
\nMurdered in cold blood
\nA rootless kind of bounty
\nStolen from the mud
\nIts truly soft I have been told
\nAbsorbing colour well
\nIt was always very special
\nProtecting organs shall
\nWe think, about the animal
\nNeeding its strong hair
\nAnd being sad to give it up
\nFor sure it wasn’t fair<\/p>\n
Thousands of them were murdered
\nOut in India I hear
\nTheir greatness at snake killing
\nWas something most held dear
\nBut their hair found that new premium
\nAnd the artists do insist
\nOn having at least one mongoose
\nOn their studio list<\/p>\n
Their pictures they are blood stained
\nTortured racked and sick
\nHow can we create a sight
\nWith death wrapped on a stick
\nTo me charcoal and chalk are simple
\nInstruments which can
\nCreate an air of naturalness
\nAnd thus a better plan<\/p>\n
To me the use of animals hair
\nIs ludicrous and sad
\nArtists should be sensitive
\nTo surroundings and its bad
\nWhen they insist on animals dying
\nJust so they can paint
\nEthic and a true sense of feeling
\nNo they bloody ain’t<\/p>\n
Got it sadly I don’t think so
\nWhat they really need
\nIs a kicking let them feel a bruised arse
\nFor when they succeed
\nLet them share the contraption
\nMetered out to our friend
\nHiding in the leaves somewhere
\nSoon to be its end<\/p>\n
For there as it goes wandering
\nThe trap catches its feet
\nAnd it will lie there bleeding
\nAnd that is just no treat
\nIf a painter cannot create
\nA vision without the aid of death
\nThen that painter is no painter
\nThose really have their breath<\/p>\n
Their lips their eyes and ears
\nAnd hands thats really all they need
\nAnd now a simple tool to paint
\nSimple they concede
\nFor its with the eyes and senses
\nAnd the hands that one can feel
\nCan mould this in their psyche
\nKnow that its for real<\/p>\n
Soften and create a sky
\nas magnificent as today
\nAnd pick out all the details
\nAs you went on your way
\nKolkata boosts a failing trade
\nIn mongoose brushes they
\nHave myriad image time shell shaped
\nArches all the way
\nInto the emotions imagine such a beast
\nCatching snakes if what it takes
\nSomehow it doesn’t play<\/p>\n
The same hair used for brushes
\nTo create a tonal scene
\nPerhaps a cantankerous soldier
\nLooking more than mean
\nOr perhaps a wondrous seascape
\nWith the softness of the sail
\nThe plunging lunging waves of green
\nThat form the glowing trail<\/p>\n
If you know someone who is painting
\nTell them to beware
\nNot be sold these animal’s brushes
\nThat if they really care
\nImagine a bloody palette
\nOr your paper or your paint
\nFor the synthetic transition
\nFor death won’t make you a saint<\/p>\n
Those buying your art work
\nPossibly don’t know
\nOr care about the medium
\nHow it all did flow
\nBut for those who understand this
\nHow the mongoose came to die
\nAnd only for the reason
