The sun was shining from the West
\nParting the trees its enormous zest
\nFor life enlightened everyone
\nBurning white as it had done
\nFor centuries but for us today
\nIt put on, a great display<\/p>\n
Illuminating the Autumn leaves
\nA manifestation that achieves
\nSuch wonderment in the eyes of all
\nConspicuous by its great white ball
\nPicking out the circle path and stones
\nAnd lifted us to those mystical zones
\nA coming together of hearts and minds
\nOf a hundred or so who felt the signs<\/p>\n
Joining hands the energy
\na halo
\nOf pink in the south to see
\nOver the lilac fields to where
\nChipping Norton lay sprawling there
\nThe ritual, was underway
\nIn the fading light of day
\nThe quarters opened and now inside
\nWe felt the glow of eventide<\/p>\n
Its a magical time for the light is pure
\nThe dappled leaves around us lure
\nOur eyes our souls our hearts and we
\nSank into the mystery
\nThe veil was cast
\nAnd the seven came
\nThey said their piece
\nAnd we all did claim<\/p>\n
Their wondrous presence we could feel
\nThe ancestors it all was real
\nLots of colours in the dress
\nLanterns lit I must confess
\nSitting there upon my chair
\nI really truthfully was aware
\nOf others around us invited souls
\nWho came and took their respective roles<\/p>\n
A Pagan voice from a while ago
\nA poetic response from the bard we know
\nMead and fruits all blessed be
\nShared and spared no infantry
\nVeronica and Claudia to the fire did go
\nAnd performed a ceremony in The glow
\nTossing the contents into the fire
\nWatching the flames lick higher and higher<\/p>\n
Onwards to the speaking stick
\nAnd around the circle with a song from Nick
\nPoignant messages shared and aired
\nOf ancestors who had clearly cared
\nAnd joined the circle as the light
\nFaded fast and the wind did bite
\nSilhouette’s and the lanterns fire
\nBrought encouragement to aspire
\nClaudia gave us a poetic note
\nAn astrological posy wrote
\nAnd delivered it, nice and clear
\nPicked up by the smallest ear
\nTo the greater good to the higher plain
\nAs Jack with his frost began to gain
\nAccess to our hands and feet
\nAnd clearly trying to compete
\nWith the sun before him in a way
\nThat reminded us on a November day
\nThe nights are cold and an air of frost
\nWith three hundreds Ho’s our energy tossed<\/p>\n
Into the air out into the sky
\nA halo of breath was seen to fly
\nOver the tree tops out and away
\nTo add to the dawn of the coming day
\nSamhain’s spirit was with us as we
\nGot back in the car to drive home and be
\nAware of the Winter setting its mark
\nWe drove through balls of mist and the dark
\nHiding the mystical shafts of light
\nSometimes within and out of sight<\/p>\n
So many friends on this Samhain eve
\nShared their thoughts which did achieve
\nA cathartic resonance all about
\nLeaving none of us in any doubt
\nThe thinning of the sacred veil
\nAnd the participation of each tale
\nSuch a memorable time was had
\nIn our book of memories we can add<\/p>\n
This Samhain and this ritual too
\nWith the Cotswold Order shining through
\nWith all of us joining the being of now
\nSharing and caring and wondering how
\nThe year will pan out to the ritual at Yule
\nAt Stone Henge and Roll Rights<\/p>\n
Weather permitting
\nAnd thats about all<\/p>\n
