Exporting baby elephants
\nTo China
\nZimbabwe does this
\nIts a money spinner
\nThe problem though arises
\nFor these little ones
\nDespite the money
\nIt is not a winner<\/p>\n
Elephants are taken
\nFrom their mothers
\nAnd their families
\nAnd in elephant talk
\nThis is a a major move
\nTransferring them into
\nWhat is adversity
\nMisfortune really
\nAnd out of their groove<\/p>\n
In 2014 China wanted
\nBabies to be housed
\nEventually
\nIn the Chimealong Safari Park
\nIn Guandong
\nFirst the need was quarantine
\nAnd we see
\nThe babies between two and four
\nYears waiting
\nMany scarred and bleeding
\nAnd forlorn
\nMany really covered in their urine
\nAnd their feces
\nChina is for them a frightening dawn<\/p>\n
Zimbabwe needs the money
\nAnd forgets about the souls
\nThey allocate and send to China
\nThose who take their roles
\nAnd suffer transportation
\nAnd clearly a lack of care
\nThey are innocent little beings
\nAnd it all seems so unfair<\/p>\n
Its more to do with punishment
\nBeing beaten we can see
\nWounds upon their backs
\nAnd swellings tragically
\nMen with long sticks guarding them
\nOne must wonder why
\nThey need such long stout sticks
\nAbout them
\nAnd why so many die<\/p>\n
They have an air of hopelessness
\nA counsel of despair
\nTheir timidity and fearfulness
\nAll of them now share
\nThey seem afraid and frightened
\nLamenting all the way
\nWet eyed and looking doleful
\nThey just don’t want to play<\/p>\n
This joylessness and low spirits
\nAnd heart ache seems to be
\nThat they are so unnerved and sad
\nAs anyone can see
\nNo veterinary around them
\nFrom the blood stains on their souls
\nJust a sulky and mopish attitude
\nFrom all these new controls<\/p>\n
The elephants are slaves to us
\nBought and sold at will
\nThe largest land animals
\nSo much blood we spill
\nTheir emotions and their heartaches
\nWe collect along the way
\nAnd these poor souls are smarting
\nFrom the journey I can say<\/p>\n
They must think of their mothers
\nWho taught them all they know
\nEnduring life without her
\nThe anguish of the show
\nProstration desolation
\nTheir awful tale of woe
\nAnd The ongoing botheration
