Chained by its rear leg
\nWith no where to stretch
\nWith trees all around
\nHe feels like a wretch
\nSuch a frustration
\nNo salvation here
\nChained tightly nothing
\nTo reach, it is clear<\/p>\n
Standing on clutter
\nWithout success
\nHe has a long trunk
\nBut gets in a mess
\nHe’s not made of elastic
\nAnd the leaves are too far
\nRestrained in his movements
\nAnd the chain it does scar<\/p>\n
He pulls hoping he can reach
\nBut of course
\nHe is hurting his leg
\nWith considerable force
\nApplied to the stretch
\nIts frustrating as hell
\nAnd The weight on his shoulders
\nIs beginning to tell<\/p>\n
Shackled and trammelled
\nBy yes man unkind
\nWho does it for devilment
\nOr he is blind
\nThis poor soul is suffering
\nEvery day
\nHurting his own leg
\nBy pulling away<\/p>\n
Nobody comes to his aid anymore
\nAnd his disappointment clearly is raw
\nThwarted and baffled as to why he cannot
\nGet up to the branches stuck here on the spot
\nEach pull is a great anti climax oh dear
\nTantalizingly close but far from here
\nEnough to taste green leaves
\nThe watery worth
\nInstead he falls clumsily
