Being tiny
\nBeing golden
\nBeing joyful through
\nAnd through
\nSuch fulfilment
\nAnd exaltation
\nDoing what we do
\nMillions of us born today
\nInside the warm room where
\nWe are then sexed purposefully
\nAnd then comes the despair<\/p>\n
We are men
\nIts a patriarchal place
\nSo all looks good
\nLets join the big conveyor
\nOf course we know we should
\nOff it seems to happy land
\nWhere all good chickens go
\nDown the ramp to God knows where
\nAll part of the flow
\nStraight into the steel teeth
\nThat crush us up to mush
\nSuddenly we are alive
\nThen in one foul rush
\nCrushed in to little pieces
\nWe are a dead heap
\nThats our incarnation
\nFrom now on in we sleep<\/p>\n
The ladies They go onto
\nCages
\nHearts still beating though
\nAfter a few weeks of this
\nThey will be killed we know
\nA chickens life is mayhem
\nIts suffering and pain
\nIts holed up in some prison
\nAnd to not see light again<\/p>\n
A few weeks of this awfulness
\nAnd a blade across their throat
\nTheir heads torn off their bodies strung
\nWho on earth can dote
\nOn such a death as we have had
\nThe devil and his breed
\nBorn to die
\nOne question why
\nBecause they had no need<\/p>\n
We were clearly surplus
\nMale chicks don’t lay eggs
\nIt was much cheaper to kill us
\nCrush our little legs
\nSend us off to the rainbow bridge
