I wonder why a farmer ever sends his
\nPigs to slaughter
\nHow he sleeps at night knowing
\nThey were trucked there without
\nWater
\nWithout food, he looked into
\nTheir eyes and what he saw
\nWas a profound regard for him
\nThat he just could not ignore<\/p>\n
They have a wealth of experience
\nAnd they show it in their eyes
\nClearly they are sentient
\nAnd very very wise
\nA responsiveness and an understanding
\nOf whats going on
\nAnd when they are loaded on the truck
\nThey know that life is gone<\/p>\n
This particular farmer
\nThinks this way he knows
\nTo have the power to kill a soul
\nIt really does pose
\nA terrible dilemma
\nAnd he has personally
\nBeen haunted by their final cries
\nAnd the deaths he didn’t see<\/p>\n
He imagines how they might have felt
\nTheir raw feelings he shares
\nTheir uneasiness and discomfort
\nHe truthfully now shares
\nThe last pig is a film about him
\nOne last pig must die
\nUnder his watch under his care
\nAnd now he has to try<\/p>\n
And get over all these killings
\nTheir faces so forlorn
\nHe has loved them and has raised
\nSince they all were born
\nHe knows each and every one of them
\nAnd all of them they care
\nThey look at him they know the score
\nAnd he knows that its not fair<\/p>\n
He gives them life a forest
\nTo mingle and to root
\nHe does the very best for them
\nAnd of course he does refute
\nThe CAFO claim of need
\nThe concentration camps where he
\nKnows these bright young charges
\nDie internally<\/p>\n
Their trials and tribulations
\nAre growing by the day
\nBeing anxious and down trodden
\nSuch emotions they display
\nHe feels deep in his sinew
\nFor them,its in his voice
\nTo carry on he cannot
\nHe has therefore a choice<\/p>\n
Distribution as it is
\nCorporate costing rules
\nLittle farmers caring farmers
\nThey are seen as fools
\nIts now the great conglomerate
\nThe gestation crates and pain
\nThe ugly face of farming
\nThe stress levels and pain<\/p>\n
There is no love of animals
\nThey tragically have become
\nCommodities to do with
\nAll under the thumb
\nOf profit and economics
\nThere is no care anymore
\nIts hell on earth for animals
\nWhich the public do ignore<\/p>\n
They cannot face the cruelty
\nThey all just turn away
\nAnd so it goes on all the time
\nAll through the night and day
\nFrom birth to death is cruelty
\nIts suffering its strain
\nAnd this gentle farmer
\nWon’t be doing it again<\/p>\n
He retained his heartfelt wish
\nTo love his pigs and care
\nHe talked to them and told them
\nWith them he did share
\nHis heartfelt thoughts
\nHe cries their tears
\nWatch the film and see
\nThe last pig is sad affair
\nBut a living testimony<\/p>\n
