Many have eyes
\nBut their failure to see
\nThrough the fabric of life
\nInto, where we
\nImagine creation and know that its there
\nFull of pure art and an honest flair
\nMany have hands
\nBut their failure to hold
\nJust a basic tool
\nIn the now they are sold
\nThe past didn’t encompass
\nAny desire
\nNot Hewn from the heart nor
\nTorn from the fire<\/p>\n
Alano Edzeza a native whose soul
\nTook a step back through history
\nIt seemed his role
\nTo recall his ancestors
\nTheir stone bone and shell
\nAnd their carving of wood
\nThat so many did well<\/p>\n
Those fishing boats hewn out of hardwood
\nWith tools
\nNo sophistication they were not fools
\nThey could master the skills
\nFrom need and so they
\nTook on the sea with their minds
\nSo to say<\/p>\n
They cleared the land enabling food
\nTo be grown and be eaten
\nThey wouldn’t be screwed by the harshness
\nOf Winter
\nOr the heat of the sun
\nComplete understanding the lesson
\nThey won<\/p>\n
Take all these vista’s from one minds eye
\nThe oceans true colours
\nThe expanse of sky
\nThe great shapes of nature
\nThe birds on the wing
\nThe wind and its flow
\nAnd all this will bring<\/p>\n
A flourish of art to the
\nCreation within
\nTo bring into being
\nThe force of the skin
\nThe wealth of each image
\nLocked in an embrace
\nWith clothing with glass
\nWith the true native face<\/p>\n
This art draws so much
\nIt conjures up scenes
\nEach cycle of thought
\nWhen shafts of light leans
\nInto the ocean and onto the shore
\nIts a study of life
\nAnd there is so much more<\/p>\n
The palette is boundless
\nEach undoubted hue
\nRegarded as unique
\nEmanating from you
\nThe raven clan drew down
\nThe winged ones who came
\nWith their eyes full of wonder
\nApparently tame<\/p>\n
But as wild as the wind
\nAnd as strong as the tree
\nAs dark as the night
\nWhen the moon we can’t see
\nThe eyes and the fingers
\nIn mortal debate
\nWith the tool with the glass
