Urmia lake, born out of the ancients
\na wondrous place for human eyes to see
\nthere once were rivers. feeding mountain water
\ntill hellish dams stopped this vitality
\nand now we witness salt and great dry areas
\nthe lake is dying fish are dying, they
\nthe state defying those of us now crying
\nOur hearts and minds are broken more each day
\nsalty fissures, glimpse the lake receeding
\nall the life force ebbing in a blink
\nIran appears quite blasie whilst the tragedy continues
\nand half the world can see the coming link
\nthe people on its banks ofcourse they worry
\nthe environment is changing every day
\nsoon the great catastrophe will happen
\nwhilst the government just looks the other way
\npeople all around the world must offer
\nthoughts thoughts of encouragement to those
\nWho see the beauty strangled by the changes
\nWho feel the heart torn from them which now grows
\nThis marvel of great naturalness and wonder
\nThis living lake thats drying more and more
\nPossibly with beating sun and very little rain
\nThe lake will become a desert,and whatsmore
\nas such the life will have left what had been given
\nby the hand of God to the people long ago
\nand instead of its great mineral wealth and waters
\nWill be huge erosion as the winds do blow
\nSalt will be transported every which way
\nTo fall on agricultural land and we
\nwill see the power that salt provides
\nit spoils new growth and so devides
\nNations, harvests positivity.<\/p>\n
this is the 9th poem on the Urmia Lake in Iran which due to ill conceived damming of certain feeder rivers this marvellous ancient lake is drying up, it is causing great fear and resentment in Iran there have been some serious public reaction but little has changed we are witnessing the death of a god made miracle.
