Elephants have a bad time in the circus
\nEverything is against them in a way
\nMiles and miles between cities
\nTravelling in trucks
\nFood and water and vets means that they pay
\nNo exercise to speak of kept in a travelling crate
\nLeg shackles and a limited supply of water
\nThats a fate<\/p>\n
Worse than death to elephants
\nWhose need to walk for miles
\nNeed to forage for what they eat
\nAnd they need piles and piles<\/p>\n
Which doesn’t sit well with circus
\nAlways on the go
\nMoving across the different States
\nIts all part of the show
\nBut not for bloody great elephants
\nTied up in some shed
\nthen carted in some trailer
\nWithout water which has led<\/p>\n
To sunken eyes and depression
\nAnd general poor health
\nOn top of this the tricks they do
\nProviding circus wealth<\/p>\n
Off season maybe in a truck
\nA crate or somewhere small
\nIts no place for an elephant
\nIt drives them up the wall
\nThey swing their heads
\nThey bang their heads
\nThey get depressed like hell
\nAnd if they give a problem
\nThe bull hook serves them well<\/p>\n
The circus is not for elephants
\nNot wild animals at all
\nIf circus is to stay around
\nListen the my call
\nNo animals in circus no animals at all
\nThis way it is possible
\nAnd this should be the rule<\/p>\n
Giving them no water
\nIn case the have a pee
\nWhilst they are performing
\nWhich they do not want to
\nSee
\nfor it upsets the audience
\nAnd has to be washed down
\nAnd staff say that won’t do this
\nNot even the clown<\/p>\n
And so they get little water
\nAnd have to perform a lot
\nIt cruelty to animals
\nAnd no one likes that a lot
\nHow we can still continue
\nTo See wild animals in a ring
\nReally makes me wonder
\nWhether we have anything
\nLeft inside our brains these days
\nAnd how we sleep at night
\nWe have to wake up and realise
\nThat it just isn’t right<\/p>\n
