The foreigners had sent their planes
\nSent their tanks of steel
\nSent their shells and rockets

The guerillas in their counting houses
\nThey decided they
\nWanted oil without the toil

Everything you have lived for
\nIs falling around your ears
\nAll your accrued belongings

The children and the child within
\nAnd you were forced to go
\nClimb over the barricades

One moment you were somebody
\nThe next a refugee
\nThey bombed you and you were nothing now
\nAnd they didn’t want to see<\/p>\n
You, your friends your lovers you
\nNow were victims and you
\nWere a nuisance misplaced jetsum
\nFloating in some sea
\nLittle boats were everywhere
\nBut you were far from free<\/p>\n
And oil was costing lots of lives
\nAnd lots of true despair
\nBorders were now closed to you
\nAnd it wasn’t bloody fair<\/p>\n
As your feet got sore
\nThe realisation that nobody
\nIn the aftermath of war
\nCares even one iota
\nFor you mate and some more<\/p>\n
The bankers in their ivory towers
\nSupped their cognac you can bet
\nSmoked their cubans king size
\nAs you went into debt<\/p>\n
You an enforced nomad
\nWith no where to go
\nThis is how the refugees
\nPerception starts to grow<\/p>\n
Some countries are building fences
\nThey don’t want us there
\nOthers say they want us
\nAnd are willing to share<\/p>\n
Out of date food smelly clothes
\nBut some are giving too
\nSo its about mixed blessings
\nWhich really isn’t new<\/p>\n
Syria is seriously battered and broken
\nWe
\nSaw our flat comes tumbling down
\nWith our eyes we did see
\nEverything we worked for ruined overnight
\nIt makes you sick to see it
\nAnd it bloody isn’t right<\/p>\n
But you have to grin and bear it
\nYour have to join the throng
\nYou have to become refugees
\nOr migrants you belong
\nTo no where you are scum
\nNot entitled to a glass
\nOf clean cold water anywhere
