He hit me
\nwith his hammer
\nHe swore at
\nme, and I
\nwas frightened by
\nhis anger
\nand that he

\nMy face was
\nvery painful
\nbut right now
\nemotionally
\nI whimpered, realizing
\nthat he took

A victim
\nfor no reason
\nI don’t know
\nwhat hurts more
\nthe mental anguish
\nof it all
\nor uncertainty

He’s often kicked
\nme anyway
\nand for days
\nI felt the pain
\nbut never showed
\nany remorse
\nand has now
\nhurt me again<\/p>\n
I struggle with
\nthe pressure
\nwith the fear
\nthat builds within
\nI’m nervous
\nand I am on edge
\nand so full of

My nose is very sore
\nToday
\nan infection
\nseemingly
\nhas rocked me
\non my heels a bit
\nas to what will become

the human world
\nappears unkind
\nI never have a say
\nwhen things go wrong

\nHe throws things at me
\noften his work boots

Whether or not he cares

\nhe doesn’t want

\nwhether I limp
\nor whine, or yelp
\nit doesn’t seem

\nhe leaves me
\nin this corner
\nhe doesn’t clean
\nmy wound
\nMy heartfelt thoughts
\nare to run away
\nor to hide
\nand be cocooned
\nin someone’s arms
\nanother soul
\nmight take me in

\nthat’s my dream
\nabove all dreams

That human
\nis supposed to be
\nhumane
\nhave sympathy
\nbut in essence
\nhe is nothing
\nhe seemed happy

Really I’m a mass

\nand bruises
\nand my heart
\nis broken
\nI’m a complete
\nwreck
\nI don’t know where

I can’t lay down
\nand sleep
\nI cannot begin
\nto rest
\nevery sound
\nand I am bound

\noh! this stress

\nhuman
\nis now too much

My way out of these
\ndoldrums
\n,that hang before me

\nI always want to urinate
\nand inside the
\nhouse well how?
\nif I do it on
\nthe carpet
\nor on the kitchen floor
\nhis boot will
\nhit my backside
\nand I’ll be red and raw<\/p>\n
I’m really in
\na quandary
\nas the best
\nthing I can do
\nIf I go out on the streets
\nI become a stray
\nand thats dangerous
\ntoo
\nI could end up being
\nput to sleep
\nthat’s the human
\nwords for killed
\ninjected with some
\npoison
\nrendered
\nand then grilled<\/p>\n
I could go around
\nto the next block
\nand hope that
\nsomeone there
\nwill take me in
\nand love me
\nand feel my deep
\ndespair
\nIf I stand there
\non the door mat
\nwith doleful eyes
\nthey might
\ntake me in
\nand feed me
\nand at least keep
\nme one night<\/p>\n
And if they are
\ntrue humans
\nthey might just feel
\ndisposed
\nto take me to
\nthe doctors
\nfor the problems
\nthat I’ve posed<\/p>\n
Yes tonight I’ll
\ntake my chances
\nI get out of that door
\nand climb down to
\nthe basement
\nthrough the window
\nfor I’m sure
\nsomething will turn up
\nfor me
\na positive outcome

\nnot in this house
