The Faroes
\nSpain and Taiji
\n3 places far apart
\nBut when I think about them
\nIt truly breaks my heart<\/p>\n
Their cultural sense
\nIs really what
\nWhat is it now they say
\nThey have to kill
\nTo entertain and to survive
\nAnother day<\/p>\n
Pilot Whales the bravest Bulls
\nAnd Dolphins victimized
\nThe intensity you can feel it
\nAnd the resentment too
\nIts prized<\/p>\n
Its about their own humanity
\nCan we begin to feel
\nWhat it is they are feeling
\nAnd what is its appeal<\/p>\n
Its true time has moved on a lot
\nAnd what once might have been
\nAn essential part of living then
\nNow appears obscene<\/p>\n
To imagine that to slaughter
\nAnimals as we do
\nTo create in fact a blood bath
\nAnd continue to pursue<\/p>\n
This rancour And this indignity
\nOn a race so far apart
\nOne destined to contact us with a force
\nThat they impart<\/p>\n
No enemy,but a heart force
\nThe Bulls are bred to be
\nStrong and valiant in the ring
\nAnd to die it seems to me<\/p>\n
In a futile show of inferiority
\nThat is whats displayed
\nAnd a pre performance logic
\nPart of the stock in trade<\/p>\n
Tortured truthfully woefully
\nRiled and angered by
\nA preliminary process
\nWhich my dears is why<\/p>\n
The matadors, their cuadrilla men
\nCarry on the grind
\nThe punishment is awful
\nAnd this is underlined<\/p>\n
The Bulls do not survive this
\nHow can they its unfair
\nThey are brutalised before the fight
\nIts really hard to bear<\/p>\n
Its known as entertainment
\nA skilful lust for fire
\nEgotistical nonsense
\nWrapped up in desire<\/p>\n
In Taiji a whaling history
\nIts a drive in which a few
\nBoats go out and create mayhem
\nWith sounds that clearly do<\/p>\n
Frighten pods of innocent souls
\nAnd victims they become
\nThey are slaughtered
\nThere is no way back
\nOnce they have heard the drum<\/p>\n
Its an unfair fight its a tragic end
\nTo a family group
\nEach would be friend
\nTheir captors rather
\nThan attack and kill
\nBut an injured friend
\nMeans they never will<\/p>\n
Leave their side
\nThey will die where they
\nAre a sentient family
\nAnd have to pay<\/p>\n
The Japanese they know the score
\nThe dolphins heart is good and raw
\nIts loving they will never leave
\nA dying friend
\nFor they believe<\/p>\n
Such cowardice is beyond
\ntheir scope
\nAnd so they stay
\nthey stay they hope<\/p>\n
But there is no hope
\nFor the Japanese are a harder race
\nThey will always seize
\nThe opportunity to kill
\nThe sentient their blood to spill<\/p>\n
In the Faroes an island people
\nAlienated by
\nTheir position in the ocean
\nA community thats high<\/p>\n
That sees the slaughter essential
\nTo their existence there
\nThe tradition and the culture
\nAnd the long months
\nOf despair<\/p>\n
The pregnant women eat the mercury laden
\nFoods for they
\nAre incensed that any
\nforeigner
\nWould try to make them say<\/p>\n
They were less a Faroe warrior
\nthan their predecessors who
\nLived on these barren islands
\nMany centuries and stayed true<\/p>\n
To themselves
\nWhales were evidently
\nThe food they all could eat
\nIts indignation
\nThey take umbrage
\nIts a hatred
\nIts conceit<\/p>\n
They all adopt this indignant roar
\nOf fury when we say
\nSlaughtering these animals
\nAs you do is not okay<\/p>\n
Its historic yes it possibly is historic
\nBut today
\nIts abhorrent and its embittered
\nAnd its wrong
\nAnd to them we say<\/p>\n
Go let off steam
\nGo blow your top
\nBut by slaughtering those souls you
\nbring your own demise much closer
\nAnd that my friends is true<\/p>\n
Be benevolent and more merciful
\nFor these whales are sick and they
\nTruthfully will live shorter lives
\nSo polluted and they pay<\/p>\n
The price for our vile negligence
\nOur dumping practice, they
\nAre dying they are riddled
\nWith the pollutants every way<\/p>\n
For them is one of agony
\nBut what you people do
\nIs take on all that agony
\nAnd share it yes share it too<\/p>\n
To Spain Taiji and The Faroes
\n3 significant places where
\nBlood baths happen regularly
\nAnd they lead to world despair<\/p>\n
So its malignancy not tradition
\nIts torture all the way
\nBrutality we love it
\nWe make those poor souls pay<\/p>\n
Spain is passed its sell by date
\nWhatever people say
\nThis medieval torture
\nHas to go away<\/p>\n
Its evil its so pitiless
\nThe bulls have little chance
\nThe unfeeling the intolerance
\nThe no quarter given dance<\/p>\n
Of death
\nIt screams remorselessly
\nOf criminality
\nOf murder in the public eye
\nAnd complete insanity<\/p>\n
To all of you who read this
\nIn the Faroes and in Taiji
\nIn Spain the pain is evident
\nOn the land and in the sea
\nThe agony its growing
\nThe pollution is as well
\nAnd what we knew as heaven on earth
\nWe now know as pure HELL<\/p>\n
So carry on your killing
\nYour culture it will send
\nYour children to the dark abyss
\nMuch sooner<\/p>\n
