Tentatively sliding down
\nThe ramp to freedom where
\nan open space
\nAnd a Joyous place
\nAre waiting for them there
\n2 pigs saved from the slaughterhouse
\nImagine that can you
\nCan you really imagine that
\nI mean what would you do<\/p>\n
Expecting those big doors to open
\nAnd to hear those screams of pain
\nTo smell the breath of the dying
\nAnd the gurgles from the drain
\nAnd instead a wondrous moment
\nYou see the open sky
\nAnd a field to go and play in
\nIs this before you die<\/p>\n
Or is this home, a new home for you
\nA sanctuary where
\nThe threat of being murdered
\nOf thinking of despair
\nIs not a thought you will ever have to have
\nEver again
\nYou are one of the chosen ones
\nWho can actually feel the rain<\/p>\n
And the sunlight on their dried old backs
\nScarred and cut about
\nBeaten by the handlers
\nWho really had no doubt
\nYou were there to feel their wrath
\nTo be kicked about at will
\nThats what you were put here for
\nAnd its a bitter pill<\/p>\n
But seemingly the angels
\nHave come and put you here
\nYou are saved forever
\nThat is very clear<\/p>\n
And in a cardboard box
\nLined with newspapers of the day
\nA half a dozen chickens
\nSuddenly start to play
\nWere they expecting slaughter
\nThe revolving blade and more
\nThe scalding tanks the de featherer
\nCould they now ignore<\/p>\n
Those thoughts and feel the sunshine
\nOn their speckled backs
\nThey stretch their wings
\nAnd their heart sings
\nTill now their body lacks
\nMinerals a plenty
\nBut now the sun and the rain
\nAnd the love and joy thats promised
\nIts everything for gain<\/p>\n
Watch them leap and flap about
\nBlessedness they feel
\nThey look exhilarated
\nAnd starry-eyed and real<\/p>\n
And then the calves
\nMy goodness straight out of the shed
\nRomping just like good ones
\nThey seemed to be well fed
\nThey too can see the blue sky
\nAnd the trees up yonder they
\nAre clearly really on a high
\nYou could say they are blown away<\/p>\n
Its really very haunting to see
\nAnimals enjoy
\nA day out of their lives
\nWhen humans do employ
\nSome harmony and abundance
\nAnd in return we see delight
\nTwo calves spared the terror
\nAnd look at them in flight<\/p>\n
And then the ducks those webbed feet
\nStraight away they know
\nThey are mean’t for the water
\nTo swim and they soon show
\nUs all they have not forgot this
\nThey plunge into the pool
\nThey are at home immediately
\nClearly they think its cool<\/p>\n
Freedom, giving back to them
\nThe favours of those who are
\nLiving where creation put them
\nIn each place they star
\nTheir watery gratification
\nTheir enchanted gladsome glide
\nThis is their fulfilment
\nWhich they feel from deep inside<\/p>\n
The millions of sad young animals
\nWho meet their maker and
\nWho die in terrible agony
\nHow can they understand<\/p>\n
And these few somehow have been chosen
\nTo live in light and joy
\nTo do their thing and clearly bring
\nMuch to those who employ
\nTheir time and efforts loving them
\nA partnership of dreams
\nJust look at their ebullience
\nI could just write reams<\/p>\n
But save to say
\nEach one of them
\nWill realise that they
\nHave been picked out by karma
\nPerhaps and thus will find their way
\nForward into their own lives
\nEnjoying all they see
\nLiving as delightful souls
