a hill out in Kenya
Where a tiny elephant was found
Such inexperience a state of grace
Too frightened to make any sound
The trauma of losing his family
To the filthiest dirtiest scum
Who came on their motorbikes
Wielding their axes
Totally heartless and numb

Apologies really for humans
Creating the panic and fear
Imagine just being there
Seeing the killings
A baby not wanting to hear
The terrible cries of his mother
As she’s hacked to the ground in his face
Writhing in absolute horror
With her blood just all over the place

All of the others so murdered
Their tusks ripped away with such woe
How awful to be in amongst all of this
And really have no where to go
Whilst these monsters are butchering crazily
And the anguish goes on
Bleeding and harrowed downtrodden and wounded
As one after the other they are gone

The drama the fury the temper
The majestic crash down where they lay
The seething volcanic eruptions
Of the animals passing away
Feverishly kicking in their dance of death
Agog with delirium too
And a sweet little soul has to witness all this
And not knowing what he should do

The smell of the blood of the lifeless remains
The men on their bikes with their ill gotten gains
Blood dripping tusks and curdling roars
And suddenly nothing just an ugly pause
As Losoiti is left in the midst of it all
His family the carnage that now does appal
Even the strongest who just happens by
Watching the criminal gang as they fly

For over a day he is left all alone
Wandering crying the seeds that were sown
Were terrible his heart beats faster for he
Knows not what to do and where he will be
Hopelessness sets in each chastening thought
Unnerved and dispirited crestfallen and taut
Haggard and care worn and frightened to be
Out on his own feeling such misery

Then to be rescued by the great Sheldrake crowd
Who showed such despair for those overpowered
What a gloomy dark sombre affair it must have been
All those dead darlings just so obscene
Wringing their hands at the sight of it all
And finding sweet Losoiti who came to their call
Who trusted them he was a soft little soul
But not a cry baby that was not his role

For 4 days they nursed him, they loved him to bits
But clearly the baby was drawn to the pits
He had glimpses of heaven by his dear mothers side
And shown Hell at the hands as his whole family died
There were no excuses for the horror he saw
For the ugly the terrible the blood and gore
The vulgar the wicked the could’t care less
The dark craven spirits that just brought him stress

Love turns around so much of course that is true
But the loathing and lovelessness it just got through
Tainted his sweet heart with what was just gall
Goaded and maddened, he embroiled in it all
He opened his eyes he looked up at the sky
He found love at last but decided to die
The malevolence outside the walls of this place
The rancour and bitterness he’d have to face
Humanity truly was vile to be sure
No fairy godmothers were outside his door
Just blackguards and rogues and assassins and worse
An unmerciful bunch and the one awful curse

Remembering his mother the dearest of dears
How much she showed him her love and her tears
She was now gone to the bridge in the sky
He watched her kicking he watched her die
He watched them hack off her tusks and he saw
All of this terror and a lot more
Earth was no place for the angels to be
Just a vile horrid journey through iniquity

Where might he end up some circus maybe
Being bull hooked to death he would never see
The eyes of his mother the thrill of the wild
Having to perform tricks for some sick human child
Or perhaps giving rides in some zoo in Japan
Or in England his world going fast down the pan
There was no reason to try and go on
With canned hunting dentists now living upon
This horrible world this vile dark venue
So he just closed his eyes and did what he had to.

This poem made me feel very very sad sick to my core
That sweet little soul lost in our world of agony and pain
Of unscrupulous dealers and a world that lacks love

We all know what its is like to be loveless
To love and for it not to be returned we all know this feeling

That poor little soul. …………

Losoiti a hill out in Kenya Where a tiny elephant was found Such inexperience
