The arrogance of hunters
\nThe depth of their absurdity
\nTheir overestimation of their own importance comes
\nWith cliquism and snobbishness
\nAnd haughty disregard
\nFor other country people
\nWho they make out are their chums<\/p>\n
Nothing could be further from the truth
\nIf only they could see
\nThey trespass over peoples land
\nAnd then act most incredulously
\nImagining they are welcomed
\nBut that is anything but true
\nFrightening pet animals
\nAs is their want to do<\/p>\n
They ride through land and hedgerows
\nChop up gardens too
\nThey are a waste of money
\nAnd really what they do
\nIs cause chaos on the roads
\nAnd often on our land
\nThey seem to have an unwritten
\nLaw that only they understand<\/p>\n
As for hunting foxes
\nTheir base heart is unsound
\nThey treat an indigenous animal
\nWho may have gone to ground
\nWith obduracy and stubbornness
\nIts distressing just to see
\nHow they treat an innocent
\nAs frightened as could be<\/p>\n
Present talk of rural sport
\nFrom ministers I hear
\nThe countryside alliance lot
\nSpreading certain fear
\nOf if the act is not repealed
\nThe countryside is lost
\nPeople are beside themselves
\nIts unspeakable to cost<\/p>\n
For Cameron and others
\nTo go along with this
\nSo called bone of contention
\nThere can be no bliss
\nEngendered in the community
\nIf the act is soon repealed
\nIts troublous and its shameful
\nAs it often is revealed<\/p>\n
Chasing a wild animal
\nTo tear it limb from limb
\nIs well beyond the pale my friends
\nIt is in essence grim
\nTo stalk to hunt to harry
\nTo frighten cannot be
\nA pastime of a human being
\nWho cares consistently<\/p>\n
It shows a general grossness
\nA virulence and blight
\nAn arrant vile unsoundness
\nThat just cannot be right
\nIts intolerable behaviour
\nBaneful and accursed
\nFull grown men on horses
\nReally its the worst<\/p>\n
Its downright dark regression
\nSociety in decline
\nA wickedness in many ways
\nReady to wine and dine
\nOn the back of a dead wild soul
\nRun into the sod
\nIts heart beating like the next man
\nAbandoned by his god<\/p>\n
To repeal this act would be awful
\nAnd altogether wrong
\nIts meddling with the environment
\nWhich does not belong
\nIn England or the British isles
\nCulture it is not
\nIts so far passed its sell by date
\nAnd would end up as a blot<\/p>\n
On our legal establishment
\nFor cruelty can never pay
\nTearing foxes limb from limb
\nCan only draw dismay
\nFrom every caring person
\nWho lives upon this land
\nWe ask you all to support us
