Seven feet of the greenest bush
\nAnd in the midst their sits
\nA pigeon she has built a nest
\nOf twigs which clearly fits
\nThe purpose without cement or glue
\nJust her natural building instincts
\nPropped and laid it’s true<\/p>\n
She, may have two babies
\nBig babies too you know
\nAnd they must just not topple out
\nAnd everyday they grow
\nShe has to feed them
\nTend them
\nA mother is supreme
\nAnd there they are
\nInside the bush
\nSafe and every gleam<\/p>\n
Of sunlight, I wakes their psyche
\nCreates In them so much
\nFledglings learning how to fly
\nHow to stay in touch
\nHow to hunt how to be
\nSurviving on their own
\nThis miracle is in this bush
\nWhich very few have known<\/p>\n
She chose this bush, our bush
\nIt’s close to our house
\nFor she knew
\nWe live the wild life around these parts
\nSo really very few
\nIt’s a wondrous sight for our eyes
\nIt’s nature’s vibrant way
\nOf giving back something to life
\nThat others take away<\/p>\n
The babies they were very weird
\nLike dinosaurs but small
\nThey were blind and looked it
\nBut could hear their mothers call
\nShe was a tireless parent collecting
\nAll day long
\nTreading through the litter
\nFor insects she was strong<\/p>\n
She fought her way into the bush
\nHer wings collapsed as she
\nReally pushed on through the twigs
\nWith so much certainty
\nA mothers life is hard what ever earthling tribe
\nThe are
\nThey suffer patriarchal crap
\nBut really are the star<\/p>\n
Performer in the living life of babies
\nReally they
\nWork their feathers to the bone
\nEvery sodding day
\nWhilst the father probably is flying off somewhere
\nChatting up the pidgy birds
\nOr skating on a reedy stream
\nCompletely lost for words<\/p>\n
He did his thing and now he flies
\nAround the countryside
\nForgetting his two babies
\nAnd if asked it’ll be denied<\/p>\n
The pigeon boys look happy
\nSoon no doubt they will
\nFly off to some other bush
\nAnd of course get their fill
\nOf insects on a summers eve
\nOr whatever else is there
\nAnd mum will have to soak up all
\nThe ongoing despair<\/p>\n
A brief look at the pigeons
\nAnd how they thus provide
\nAn ongoing future for themselves
\nPuffed up and feeling pride
\nNo prejudice to speak off
\nWood pigeons yes they are
\nA long drawn coo is what they do
\nAnd really are the star<\/p>\n
Performer in the countryside
\nPlump their collars white
\nReally seen as game as ever
\nAnd shot which isn’t right
\nEvery soul that lives the wild
\nShould be protected by
\nHuman beings with a heart
