From the back streets of Brooklyn
\nHe climbed to where now
\nHe’s very much lighter
\nHis perceptions allow
\nHim to see through
\nthe prejudice
\nThat seemingly
\nPrevails all around us
\nand still does sadly<\/p>\n
He’s part of a business
\nArchitectural reclaim
\nand some pretty lady
\nsaid, “was he game”?
\nto look after her kitten
\nwhilst she was away
\nhe hated these things
\nbut she was okay,<\/p>\n
So he swallowed his pride
\nand took the soul in
\nan ambulatory organism
\nhoping to win
\nthe heart of this lady
\nbut in fact he found
\nthat the kitten
\nwas loving and
\nin fact, it wound<\/p>\n
its way into him
\nits emotions were strong
\nit was such a sweet creature
\nfor years he’d been wrong
\nHe loved her and found that
\nhe needed her there
\nhe wanted to give her the best
\nand to share.<\/p>\n
she had changed his perception
\nundeniabley so
\nand his feeling for animals
\nin general did grow
\nWhen the lady returned
\nthe kitten went too
\nso he took on more cats
\nand rescued a few<\/p>\n
from the building sites
\nwhere they were in a poor state
\nbut he loved them
\nand cared for them
\nand he felt great
\nTouching them, loving them
\nhe came to feel
\ntheir bodies and legs
\nthey were so real<\/p>\n
like drumsticks he thought
\nlike the chicken he ate
\njust so much more furrier
\nbut just like his pet
\nhow could he eat chicken
\nsomething alive
\nhad to be slaughtered
\nso he could survive<\/p>\n
this didn’t seem right
\nhe thought
\nthis cannot be
\nbesides the vast sheds
\nwhere the birds
\ndo not see
\nthe sunlight
\nor peck in the grass
\nor just be<\/p>\n
with themselves for a moment
\nwhat was it about
\nSo he stopped eating chicken
\nNow he had no doubt
\nand he thought about fur
\nand how wild souls were caught
\nin very cruel traps
\nfor their skins they were sought<\/p>\n
to be made into coats
\ninto trim it was wrong
\nthat wasn’t where those soft coats
\ndid belong
\nthey belonged to the creature
\nnot some young fur hag
\nas a trim on some fleece
\nor on somebody’s bag<\/p>\n
this was no reason
\nto cause so much pain
\nto the wildest of wild ones
\nagain and again
\nIn His customised lorries
\nhe drove here and there
\nshowing films from his trucks
\nof the trapped souls despair<\/p>\n
people just wandering
\nout in the street
\nsome visibly moved
\nby wanton deceit
\nfrom the fur industry
\nthe lamentable way
\nthey treated and killed
\nso many each day<\/p>\n
Fauna vision describes
\nreally where Eddie is
\nhis realization
\nyes it is his
\nhonest conviction
\nhow he has grown
\nwith more profound thoughts
\nthan ever he’d known
\n a<\/p>\n
His mission is out there
\nYou know what he feels
\nThe animals love him
\nbecause he appeals
\nhe gives and they give
\nand he shares and they share
\nEddie’s a man who has learned
