{"id":216,"date":"2011-11-19T14:27:06","date_gmt":"2011-11-19T14:27:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=216"},"modified":"2011-11-19T15:44:43","modified_gmt":"2011-11-19T15:44:43","slug":"ranec-the-last-siberian-crane-in-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2011\/11\/ranec-the-last-siberian-crane-in-iran\/","title":{"rendered":"Ranec The last Siberian Crane in Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"center\">I am the last Crane<br \/>\n<!--more-->to visit Iran<br \/>\nAll those miles I have travelled<br \/>\nFor I have a fan<br \/>\nLone Wolf\/ Mary An<br \/>\nWell \u00a0actually<br \/>\nWho appreciate life<br \/>\nwho appreciate meWe Cranes, have traversed<br \/>\nskies, and wintered away<br \/>\nIn India and now Iran<br \/>\nThe future is bleak<br \/>\nFor the Hunters do wreak<br \/>\nSuch losses that none of us can<br \/>\nSurvive we are being shot<br \/>\nout of the sky<br \/>\nWe haven&#8217;t a chance<br \/>\nto be free<br \/>\nI am the last Crane<br \/>\nto visit Iran<br \/>\nand it seems that<br \/>\nthis just has to beMallards are slaughtered<br \/>\ntheir throats slit poor souls<br \/>\nHumans are murderers<br \/>\nlacking controls<br \/>\nThe Biosphere suffers<br \/>\nintolerably<br \/>\nFrom gun toting cowards<br \/>\nWho believe they can beOut in the open<br \/>\ndoing their thing<br \/>\nKilling and maiming<br \/>\nits something they bring<br \/>\nTo our world, once so free<br \/>\na hellish desire<br \/>\nTo give us wild children<br \/>\nTheir brimstone and fire<\/p>\n<p>Now look at me, on my own<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s my lot<br \/>\nMy mate killed last year<br \/>\nYea, a barrel of shot<br \/>\nSmashed her to smithereens<br \/>\nSplat! she no more<br \/>\nSnuffed out a lost soul<br \/>\nBut what was it for<\/p>\n<p>We were the last pair<br \/>\nbut I reminisce<br \/>\nShe was so loving<br \/>\nOh! how I miss<br \/>\nThe warmth that<br \/>\nshe showed me<br \/>\nThe true love and care<br \/>\nThat these days<br \/>\nas far as Cranes go<br \/>\nis so rare.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This poem was inspired by my Iranian brother lONE wOLF who told me he was going to see the last Siberian Crane and so this is how the Crane felt seeing him and his birding friend Mary An.
