They are born to fly in the Himalayas
\nFlocks of them and they
\nWere found all around Asia
\nAnd recently they say
\nGot themselves to China
\nAnd there they met their end
\nThe Chinese people eat them
\nTheir souls they like to send
\nTo the Rainbow Bridge forever
\nFor it’s there they have to go
\nIn Guangdong In
\n2013 alone
\nI million birds
\nThe fear is clearly obvious
\nNight roosts on the ground
\nSee them quickly netted and captured
\nIt’s been found
\nThey are an endangered species
\nBut the Chinese do not care
\nThey are close to extinction
\nSo very very rare
\nThey are very beautiful song birds
\nOften stewed with rice
\nKnown affectionately as rice birds
\nTheir flavour does suffice
\nRoasted till they are crispy
\nBones and all it’s said
\nAnd scooped up with their chopsticks
\nSo now we are led
\nUp and down the mountain paths
\nTo try and find a song
\nA little bunting hopefully
\nSinging all along
\nIt’s dulcet tone remarkable
\nFor it’s singing for each friend
\nWho is eaten by the Chinese
\nAnd thus meets his end<\/p>\n
China has to realise these wild souls
\nAre not mean’t
\nTo be deep fried and eaten with rice
\nThat was not why they were sent

My appeal tonight is to China
\nTo the southerners so try
\nAnd eat these tiny little birds
