Fox hunting in Scotland
\nIt’s happening
\nDespite the laws that are in place
\nWe know
\nHunters and some local people
\nDo it anyway
\nIt’s part of their culture
\nIt’s happened since the day
\nThe kids were born
\nIt’s common knowledge
\nIn rural towns today
\nAnd legislation makes no difference
\nWhatever people say<\/p>\n
Quietly in locations the hunts
\nGet on and do
\nHorses hounds the terrier men
\nThe comradeship all through
\nFlushing to guns or so they say
\nBut really that’s no true
\nHunting carries whatever
\nLegislators do
\nAnd there are many a blind eye
\nAnd a strong cupped ear
\nAround these parts what ere we say
\nAnd others who live in fear<\/p>\n
The arrogance is out there
\nThose covering up are there
\nThey even post their hunt dates
\nWith the world at large they share
\nTrained hounds chasing down
\nA wild soul protected by the law
\nAnd prominent people choosing
\nTo Support them, I am not sure
\nTruly where they come from
\nThese so called prominent souls
\nIf 84 per cent of us don’t want it
\nThen the roles
\nplayed out by those preferring to
\nIgnore what we say and how we think
\nAnd the bloody law
\nIt’s terrible it’s anti social
\nIt’s ugly it’s not right
\nLiving in our community
\nIt’s a kind of blight
\nThat somehow affects some locals
\nThe police even appear
\nNot so keen to stop them
\nOr seem unaware, to me it’s clear
\nThere’s a mood a kind of attitude
\nPrevailing round a bout
\nA subtle watering down of thoughts
\nCreating a kind of doubt<\/p>\n
We need now to remind these
\nPeople it’s 84per cent
\nWho want to protect the wild life
\nNot slaughter, and our intent
\nIs to preserve and care for foxes
\nAnd Badgers and the rest
\nNot find ways to murder them
\nNot find ways to test
\nThose of us who love them
\nThose of us who care
\nThose of us who want them
\nTo always now be there<\/p>\n
To be what they were born to be
\nParents in the sod
\nReally part of everything
