In a cold and swirling river
\nAn ailing wolf they found
\nNot an easy rescue
\nThey could have easily drowned
\nVery much the worse for wear
\nDrenched and beaten by
\nBroken down and sickly
\nBetween the rocks did lie<\/p>\n
Out of it unconscious
\nOn it’s last legs, and
\nSuffering lamentably
\nIt’s hard to understand
\nHow some will go all out to save
\nAnd others walk away
\nOr rescue the poor victim
\nWhat anyone else might say<\/p>\n
Leap into the swirling current
\nAnd bring the poor sad soul to shore
\nIn a state of true collapse
\nNot prepared to ignore
\nA fellow earthling’s suffering
\nTo carry the wolf and lie
\nIt carefully on the mossy bank
\nWhere otherwise it would die<\/p>\n
CPR administered
\nThe kiss of life as well
\nA womEn to a wild wolf
\nA story who would tell
\nCovered with a blanket
\nA hair dryer to dry
\nTo show the true compassion
\nFor a wolf who happened by<\/p>\n
Unconscious to the world
\nHe knew
\nStretchered out of there
\nRevived by the truest empathy
\nAnd breath each did share
\nSurely weather beaten
\nAnd cold and frozen stiff
\nScared out of its tiny life
\nParalysed, and what if<\/p>\n
The rescuers had been hunters
\nHad been trappers
\nHeartless men
\nThis wolf had built up karma
\nClearly now was when
\nHis payback was in order
\nAnd the rescue was to be
\nUndertaken by true friends
\nWith sensibility<\/p>\n
They carried him to safety
\nTo a hospital and they
\nBrought him back to life again
\nOn that special day
\nShowed him love and kindness
\nProved to him that he
\nCould be saved for they had braved
\nHis wildest rhapsody<\/p>\n
The music of the forest
\nThe overture of life
\nThe enthusiastic dreamer
\nThe escapist from strife
\nWeeks passed and his recuperation
\nWas well underway
\nThe wolf was able to go home
\nHaunted so to say<\/p>\n
By the kindness of those humans
\nWho found him in the creek
\nDying in a sorry state
\nAnd brought him back to peak
\nTo reminisce and retrace his journey
\nTheir evocative display
\nThe mouth to mouth experience
