\nan absurdity of sweetness
\nmanufacturers mince their words
\nand so push it
\nclearly this refined white
\npowder, mystifies
\nthere is no doubt
\nin my mind
\nthat its s–t
\nBut the regulatory bodies
\nsay its A okay
\nits in soft drinks
\nin candies, and in pies
\nkids are on medication
\neven in their cots
\nand the corporates
\nthey continue telling
\nlies.
\nAnd its tantalisingly
\ndifficult to disprove it
\nfor the weight of
\nmoney bearing down
\non those
\nwho speak out against
\nanything that turns out to
\nbe negative
\nfor the FDA
\naccepts well written prose
\nfor me I wouldn’t touch
\nthe stuff not ever
\nDespite the money
\nclearly in the pot
\nartificial sweeteners
\nare manipulative
\nwhatever they say
\nto me don’t mean a lot
\nin fact I wouldn’t trust
\nnot anyone of them
\nthey all lie through their back teeth
\nanyway
\nits just that in America
\nthe state allows
\nthese criminals
\nfree reign to make their money
\nevery day
\nAspartame and Nutrasweet
\nand all the artificial stuff
\ncrowded on the supermarket shelves
