Poveglia an island with a daunting past
\nAnd now who knows
\nWhat future lies before it
\nFrom what die lays cast
\nMany negative symbols
\nBore down on this place
\nWhere Madness, plague,and mass burning
\nAnd great suffering was based<\/p>\n
It sits within the south lagoon of Venice
\nAnd apparently most people stay away
\nIt has a dreadful aura all about it
\nContagion, madness ashes mark it’s way
\nArmies of plague victims
\nCame to die here
\nBanished from the mainland left to be
\nBurned in open pits
\nPlagued with vile suffering
\nInhuman manifestations
\nBy the sea<\/p>\n
It’s said to be one of the darkest spots
\nOn earth
\nIt’s footprint marks such evil
\nAll along
\nCurses, apparitions seem insurmountable
\nSome might see the sophistry and know
\nLamentation, moans of the disembodied
\nTortuous and forgotten may be so
\nThere clearly is a funereal perception
\nA phenomenon of cold sweat and disgust
\nA paranormal experience with energy
\nKind of unpredictable but a must
\nFor those alarmed by what is comfortless
\nTremors
\nAn apprehensiveness that claws into
\nReally it’s irrational to imagine
\nThe belief system one has leads to a view<\/p>\n
Creating a dilemma and an impact
\nEach of us are fearful, we can feel
\nThe nervousness our hair is standing up on end
\nIt’s cold and really manifesting real
\nSounds and clouds of energy spring skywards
\nOur gadgets are malfunctioning as we
\nFace an onslaught from the lost souls infantry
\nDust and footsteps and gullibility<\/p>\n
An emanation and expectation rising
\nVisual impact
\nFrom within a starless sky
\nDespite it’s sombre intimidating aura
\nAnd the plague fields and the darkness
\nThat does lie
\nOut on the bridge and in the long hall
\nIt was evident
\nThe precariousness and untenable desire
\nIt seemed somewhat of a fallacy
\nMisguided by a symphony
\nImagining the wanton fields of fire<\/p>\n
All those bones crestfallen so cremated
\nMiscreants that took heed and ran away
\nClearly so much consternation in them
\nA numinous and ominous display
\nThe island has seen it’s ugly dark emotion
\nIt manifest it’s untenable desire
\nBeing burnt to ash and down the ages
\nCompacted into soil from all that fire<\/p>\n
The Americans were clearly rattled by it all
\nThe undergrowth around the buildings were
\nFull on verdant greenery which added to the scenery
\nWhere Scorpions and rats and lizards stir
\nInsects kind of bigger ones than normal
\nScuttled through the ashes of the dead
\nOrbs and spectres sprung out of the darkness
\nFootsteps at the rear and up ahead<\/p>\n
All felt there was a passing of their energy
\nAs an apparition stole it from them they
\nWent weak at the knees
\nThen it sort of went away
\nIllogical irrational a breeze
\nWashed across their faces
\nLeaving them wholly weakened
\nConversing with them
\nSeemingly did tease<\/p>\n
Some answers and a moaning droning
\nFeeling
\nThis island was mysterious they knew
\nAll it’s long long history of unbelievable happenings
\nCompounded and created in a view
\nThat got the heart strings pumping
\nEsoteric thumping
\nAnd the boats that carried the dying
\nGood and true
\nThe ugly contorted masks
\nThe herbs they burned there
\nCleaning the dire air diseased and rife
\nOne picks up as to the reason no one goes there
\nFor within the mind there’s a risk of utter strife<\/p>\n
Fishermen do not fish close to the island
\nFor fear of curses and the bones that fell
\nAnd fish that have been feeding on the victims
\nWho came and died and created there own Hell
\nOnce a year they harvest from the vineyards
\nBut that is all that is happening today
\nAll we see is ruinous desolation
\nWhere serpents wild and rodents tend to play
\nIt’s heavy and it’s dark you feel the despondency
\nA hopeless situation plays on your mind
\nIt’s inauspicious ill-omened and feels ominous
\nPossessed almost and when you have left behind
\nThe island and it’s fearful paranormal
\nA lightness comes back over you and you feel
\nRelieved you got off with your life and purpose
