Asclepias An essential plant
\nThe milkweed had it’s place
\nThe arrogance of Monsanto
\nReprobates whose case
\nWas ignorantly created
\nFor glyphosate It be
\nUsed as a foil for common sense
\nAnd now of course we see
\nThe Monarch Butterflies
\nDwindling numbers
\nThe grasslands pulled up and replaced
\nWith corn and soya
\nMonsanto’s cash cows
\nCorporate fodder which has torn
\nHuge great swathes of monoculture
\nThis unnatural profit base
\nCausing a complete disaster
\nWhere Monarchs dare not show their face
\nMilkweed gave them cherished cover
\nMilkweed made them poisonous to
\nThose insects who might relish eating
\nThem but now what could they all do
\nFrom Mexico to Canada
\nThe environment is altered so
\nWhat was balanced and sustainable
\nIs now altered by Monsanto
\nThe genetic qualms they are now out there iron chips and gal
\nChanging everything we see
\nIt’s out of kilter it’s so unnatural
\nIt’s not where we were born to be
\nCorn chips and gasoline are showing
\nDeforestation before our eyes
\nIt doesn’t feel right
\nIt doesn’t look right
\nAnd to most the ones who realise
\nIt isn’t right it’s a take over
\nThe genetic curtain has fallen foul
\nAcross the wild fields into sunlight
\nAnd it’s it’s place a genetic bowel
\nSends it’s shit in all directions
\nImbalances the world we see
\nOnce there was a great connection
