Through the hard hoary frost
\nAt considerable cost
\nwe rise through the sod
\nNow to show
\nOur heads and as flowers we will herald the Spring
\nWe know it’s the best way to go
\nBut it is quite a difficult journey
\nTo push our shoots up to
\nThe sky
\naround great big pebbles and bits of old brick
\nThat now in our path want to lie<\/p>\n
Tonight it’s not windy
\nBut boy when it is
\nPeering, into the night sky
\nAnd facing the wrath of the goddess
\nMe thinks
\nIs worthy of one great long sigh
\nFighting to stand there
\nAgainst hail and ice
\nThat is forcing us back all the time
\nThe sky is the limit
\nAnd With little support
\nIt’s hard to continue the climb<\/p>\n
With the massive tall trees
\nRocking this way and that
\nAnd some fences being blown down
\nThe rigour the shivery
\nShadowy orchards
\nBeing swept over in town
\nWinters shadow obscured
\nBy the threat of the trees
\nAnd the ashen light
\nBringing the mist
\nWithin in our spirit
\nOur purses of colour
\nIn spring will be hard to resist<\/p>\n
Messages bursting to blow into life
\nKaleidoscope magic will be
\nA spectrum that lures sleepy eyes
\nTo endure
\nAnd embraces the bird and the bee
\nCitrine and mustard and saffron
\nDaffodils trumpeting far
\nAmethyst hyacinths waiting inline
\nTo gaze fondly at the North Star<\/p>\n
The sweet snowdrop she was the first
\nPretty dancer
\nher white lacy dress she displayed
\nThey burst through the hard snowy carpet
\nBut by now are beginning to fade
\nGrape hyacinths too partnered the snow drops
\nPurple and white contrasts we
\nAre following fast behind
\nWe are feeling strong
